The ABC of Smoking:

ALWAYS BE CONSIDERATE Chew gum as you ride Pacific Electric. Eat

candy ... or even peanuts in the shell if you must. But please don't smoke . We have nothing against smoking in its place.

But smoking in buses and rail cars is in bad taste -and against the law in many cities, including Los Angeles.

That's because it's a fire hazard as well as an annoyance to many patrons. Especially on crowded vehicles, ventilating systems fight a losing ha\i;tle when they're up against tobacco smoke . . . and few passengers wear Buck Rogers space helmets.

Even our superintendent of passenger service, whose name is Mr. Puffer and who enjoys a good cigar, waits until he's_ offthe bus before lighting up.

For the sake of comfort and safety, Mr. Smoker, won't you do the same? --------
