If not, then that would mean you are not aware of the many pets waiting to be adopted from the humane society. These animals come from all over Nodaway County and the humane society is their home until they are adopted. The local humane society can only financially support these animals to a certain extent, and that is where you come into play. You may ask what you have to do with the humane society here in Maryville and with that there are few facts you may need to know. The upkeep and ability to maintain the facilities at the humane society can cost thousands of dollars each month and the budget has been slashed this year, so the shelter needs your support in order to keep running efficiently. Just $50 a month could support these animals in many ways, and make you a Humane Society Hero. To house and feed the cats and kittens in the facility, it costs around $3 per cat each day and with the dogs, it costs $5 each per day. With your donation, these animals will have the support they need to keep them healthy and ready for adoption. This cute, little guy is Murphy. He is a 2 year old Labrador retriever and Australian Cattle dog mix and is currently living at the Nodaway County humane society. No one knows how long Murphy will be at the humane society, but with your donation, you will be his supporter for at least a part of his stay. The tax deductible donations to the program can easily be made by direct withdrawal from your bank account or put on a credit card, and you will also be recognized as a donor at the shelter. As a member of the Maryville community, you will be invited to social and fundraising events and will be given a Hero lapel pin to show others that you are supporting the shelter. The donations can be made monthly and by an automatic deduction from your bank account or using a credit card we can keep on file.

Dear Maryville Citizen:

Did you know Maryville was home to the Nodaway County Humane Society?

Like Murphy, there are many other animals that could benefit from your donation and giving only $50 a month will fulfill the needs of the shelter. I know you may feel like this is a big commitment, but in all reality you are giving donations that will make a huge impact. You can make a difference but in order to make this impact, you will need to act soon, so that you can help the animals already living in the humane society and the ones that may be rescued in the future.

Sincerely,

Megan Palmer

Humane Society Director
