• Carl Jung about same time• Briggs and daughter, Isabel Myers,

studied Jung’s work• Myers wanted everyone to get along

after WWII, and felt MBTI was one way• Consulting Psychologists Press took it

over in 1975

• Is not a diagnostic• Does not measure how much or

little—no bell curve or average• Reflects your attitude and

preferences at the time you took the assessment
