Where does your exposure to profanity

come from?

Profanity is something we all face with every single day

Whether it’s coaches, teachers, or peers profanity is something that is unavoidable.

Why is it so hard to refrain from swearing?

• “ 3When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. 4Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. 5Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

•  7All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, 8but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.”

“ 14Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 15What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.“

How does this relate/apply to Profanity?

“36But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. 37For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.“

• As guys we are naturally curious about sex

• The problem is we rationalize impure thoughts

• and that can lead to lust• Allowing yourself to dwell on the impure

thought leads to lust

Page 20: Personal Purity

• The awakening of the conscious is the first line of defense

• If lusting occurs, the feeling of guilt is Gods signal that should take you to repentance immediately

• Repeated failure in this area needs mentoring and accountability

Page 21: Personal Purity

Read the Bible daily Pray unceasingly about everything Have an accountability partner “6 Don't worry about anything; instead,

pray about everything…”Philippians 4:6

Moral freedom is not the right to do whatever you want; it is the power to do what is right

Moral freedom is having your physical drives under God’s control

1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
