TRX Suspension Training
TRX has gained popularity in recent years and here is why:
TRX is a type of training that uses your own body weight and gravity to build strength, balance, coordination, flexibil-ity, core and joint stability, all while preventing injuries.
TRX can be progressed or re-gressed to provide an excellent workout for any fitness level.
UNI’s Wellness and Recreation Services has recently pur-
chased several TRX apparatuses for personal training and
fitness classes.
There has been discussion on how and when we may be
able to make the TRX available to WRC patrons.
The WRS Personal Fitness program will host a series of TRX workshops that will assess participants’ com-
petencies with a TRX Suspension Trainer.
The TRX competency course will be offered the first and third Tuesday of each month. It will be held up-
stairs in the WRC fitness area and will have a cost of
$10.
Once participants have shown that they know how to use the TRX safely and effectively, we will then issue
them a card that can be used to check out a TRX.
The Gastrocnemius is a long muscle on the posterior side of the leg originating at
the back side of the knee and inserting into the Achilles tendon.
The Gastrocnemius is involved in:
Standing
Walking
Running
Jumping
The Gastrocnemius can be trained by a variety of exercises such as:
Calf Raises
Box Jumps
Running Stairs
Walking or Running on an Inclined Treadmill
