The laboratory is managed by Christina Morgan, who provides over 15 years of formulation experience in color cosmetics, hair care, and skin care. She along with her staff offer their knowledge in creating unique formulations as well as solutions to customer formulations. The primary goal of the Personal Care Applications Lab is to develop starting formulas. Each year, Brenntag Specialties debuts new hair care, skin care, and color cosmetic kits at industry trade shows. These prototype kits serve to showcase trends in the personal care market, as well as unique uses for ingredients offered by Brenntag Specialties. Natural cosmetics is a trend that will only grow in importance as consumers become more savvy about the ingredients they eat as well as what they put on their skin. Brenntag Specialties plans to be at the forefront of the natural market segment by offering customers novel natural ingredients and assistance in formulating with them. This fully equipped applications laboratory will focus on personal care formulations, while intending to promote new ideas and concepts as consumer demands change. Formulations produced by the Personal Care Applications Laboratory serve as starting points for commercial products and showcase ingredients from our world class supplier partners. They can be customized to fit customer goals or manufacturing requirements with the support of Brenntag Specialties applications personnel. Prototype formulations are presented in kits according to personal care markets, for example, hair care, skin care, and color cosmetics. These kits are presented to customers at regional and local industry trade shows as well as during joint visits with Brenntag Specialties account managers. Samples are often available to be sent directly to customers as well. In addition to these prototype kits, the Personal Care Applications Laboratory continues to expand its formulation library with new and unique formulations.
All formulations presented by the Applications Laboratory have undergone stability testing for three months at 40⁰C.
Formulary sheets are available which detail processing instructions as well as provide an overview of key ingredients used in the formulation as well as the benefits that they provide.
