I have started to look at this new project brief which has to be personal to us and what we find interesting. I decided to look at religion because it is something I would like to learn more about and express this in my work. So I am going to look more into religion and expand my research on this to get more of a clear understanding on where I want to focus more on.

Personal Brief

History of religion

This website shows where and when the religions started and how they expanded across the globe Religion all came in time. This was the first information I looked at which helped me understand the years that have gone by and which religions came to life first in what country etc.

Peace

This video inspired me because it sends out a good and posi-tive message to all the religions and also the graphics used too which has also given me ideas but I am going to look more into religion and question all the points of it too which I will be showing later in the project.

What is Religion

I then looked at the definiton of what is religion to get me more a cler understanding and also will help me picture and think about what I may end up doing for this project.

Religion is age old since the civilization came into existence. It began when human’s brain advanced to realize to have faith, and worship the systems of the society. Human lived in small groups, regulations and systems were formed to maintain discipline in the group. All small groups had own ideology that were obligatory to all group members. spirits icons like group gods and character icon (idols) like devil or angel.

Do we believe in God?

I watched a clip on youtube explaining why do we believe in God, a lot of different religions believe in the God that they believe in for example for Christianity they believe in Jesus and in islam they believe in Allah. Religions are there because people have different paths of getting to God and because of the religion that they have been bought up in and they decide to follow and keep the respect in the family by choosing that certain got to believe in.

The Major ReligionsThe major religions I wanted to focus on more were the religions listed below where I researched each one in depth getting more of an understanding on which each religion represents and this is all on the blog.

HinduismJudaismBuddhism Christianity Islam Sikhism

RACE: Are We So Different?

This video basically shows how Race was created and status was defined by wealth and religion not by physical characteristics such as skin colour, but sooner or later things would change in the years and physical difference did matter where they began to replacing the european labourers with enslaved africans who were held in permanent bondage. I wanted to go more deeper into my research with colour of race too.

Definitions Peace“Peace is a state of harmony characterized by the lack of violent conflict. Commonly understood as the absence of hostility, peace also suggests the existence of healthy or newly healed interpersonal or international relationships, prosperity in matters of social or economic welfare, the establishment of equality, and a working political order that serves the true interests of all. In international relations, peacetime is not only the absence of war or conflict, but also the presence of cultural and economic understanding .”

EqualityWe are committed to equal opportunities and we are sensitive to the different cultures, needs and religions of the people we work with. We are committed to treating everyone equally regardless of race, religion gender, disability, age or sexual orientation.

I want to show that everyone should be a whole and to treat everyone equal and not to think different of race or culture because we all come into the world together and soon will leave the world so I want to give out a positive message that everyone should be equal.

Here are some of the things that I have looked at that represent peace and how people are showing that they can be equal and become a whole.

Personal BriefQuotes

I started to look at quotes because I enjoy reading them because they inspire me in many ways and also makes me think too because it is short and simple and to the point

The reason I want to look at quotes is because I want to send out a positive message about religion and culture and how everyone should be equal, I looked at different quotes for example that may inspire people and to also give out a positive message for those who can sit down and think, but these are just examples of quotes which have meanings behind it and will also look nice to have.

Influence

I am looking a bit ahead but I was visualising something that I want to make which is similar to this so I thought I would just add the picture now so that I can get ideas off this and work on something along the lines of this.

visualisation (colours magazine) Nicholas Felton

Nicholas Felton is a graphic designer who spends most of his time looking at data and charts to show his work and he does this visually to show another form of designing .He is the author of several Personal Annual Reports that weave numerous measurements into a tapestry of graphs, maps and statistics that reflect the year’s activities. He also does info graphics

I have started to look at visualizations for my ideas and the first one that i looked at is the magazine which is colours which show different themes and front pages which is basic and also gets straight to the point. The reason i started to look at this website is because Tibor Kalman ” described his work as mix of ‘National Geographic’ and ‘Life”, on acid” and was different to other magazines . the visual language of the photography and clear language led some to call it the representative magazine.each magazine tells a story on the theme for that magazine which brings alot of attention for the readers to buy the magazine and is unique in its own way.

Personal BriefBreak DownAfter my research now I have finally took into account where I want to take my project and what I am going to focus on and that is to look at something to do with info graphics just how the graphic designer visualizes his work so I am going to do something in a similar way but I am going to break down the religion into and only focus on Islam to make it more simple and clear by focusing on one religion. I am going to focus on looking into Islam so I am thinking to make like a visual of the religion so I will focus on one and explain the religion a bit more. what I am going to do is the 5 pillars of islam which is listed below.

Islam 5 pillars of islam1.Belief in Allah, the one and only true God2. To pray (salah) 5 times a day facing the Kaaba in Mecca 3.Pay Zakat (charity) 2.5% of earning 4. Fasting (fasting sunrise to sunset) on the 9th month of the Islamic year 5. Haj, pilgrimage to Mecca a least once in a lifetimeThese 5 are the main outline and should be done, for my 1st idea I will be creating visually the 5 pillars of Islam

I am firstly going to create my designs first and play around with them to make more visually which will be on the other sheets and the blog.

Info Graphics/ Posters

Because I was influenced into looking at Nicholas Feltons deisgn it has inspired me and I have been looking at various info graphic designs on google and also posters too because they are linked up on the same sort of category so these posters have given me an insight and ideas on what I may look into.

Page 7: personal brief

Personal BriefDesign Proposals

These are my series of designs which I will print out on board to show each representation of each pillar explaining in its simplest form and the visuals should also help give it a better understand.

For this poster I have created the image of steps to perfom salat(prayer) the background of the sunset I have edited works well with the image because the prayers consist of praying 5 times and during this time the theres prayers which you can tell by the sun setting and how the day is.

Zakat is another pillar which is something in Islam where we give 2.5% to charity.I didnt want to get too complex with the image so I left it simple and to the point experimenting different colors to get the best outcome.

Ramadan is a day where you fast for 30 days. The reason I chose to use a plate with half text on the plate and salad on the other is to show how the muslims have to starve for certain hours of the day and I think this is affective.

This is an image of Hajj and I chose to keep it to the point and also left the text in the middle so it contrast with the black. This is a place where Muslims have to come as it is a once in a life time experi-ence to ask for forgiveness.
