    SAC One

    In this task you are required to compare the adaptation of a literary text and analysethe ways in which the meaning of the text may have been altered by the adaptation.

    You have read the graphic novel Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi and have viewed thefilm adaptation of the story. You have also completed some in class activities in whichyou were asked to identify the key differences between the two texts. This will helpyou to prepare your SAC.

    Form.

    The form this SAC will take is that of a review. You will choose the most relevantaspects of the topic and will write your review ensuring that you discuss the form ofthe text and its adaptation. You will need to provide detailed evidence from both filmand short story to assist in your analysis. The criteria for assessment in this task are asfollows:

    Analyse how meaning changes when the form of a text changes.

    Sophisticated analysis of the ways in which meaning is

    altered when the text is transformed. Considered selection

    and highly-effective use of textual evidence to support an

    interpretation. Highly-expressive and coherent development

    of ideas.

    2532 marks Thorough understanding of the ways in which the form of a

    text is significant in the making of meaning. Detailed

    knowledge of the conventions in the forms of both the

    original and transformed texts. Very good use of terminology

    appropriate to the relevant forms of text. Insightful analysis

    of the ways in which meaning is altered when the text is

    transformed. Careful selection and effective use of textual

    evidence to support an interpretation. Expressive and coherent

    development of ideas.

    1724 marks Some understanding of the ways in which the form of a text is

    significant in the making of meaning. Sound knowledge of the

    conventions in the forms of the original and transformed texts.

    Appropriate use of terminology in relation to the selected text

    forms. Some analysis of the ways in which meaning is altered

    when the text is transformed. Relevant selection and use of

    the ways in which meaning is altered when the text is

    transformed. Limited selection and/or use of textual evidence

    to support an interpretation. Simple expression of ideas.

    VCAA Literature Study Design

    The critieria above should guide you in your preparation for this task. You will be givenone double lesson in class to prepare and you will be permitted to bring in a notespage.

    The notes page should then be submitted with your completed SAC.

    The SAC will be sat under exam conditions in class. You will be permitted pens andpencils as well as your notes page and you are to remain silent throughout the SAC soas to allow others to complete their work uninterrupted.
