Côte de Beaune Appellation Village White 100% Chardonnay Pernand-Vergelesses Clos de la Croix de Pierre Vineyards situation The vineyards of Pernand-Vergelesses are located next to Aloxe-Corton and Savigny-les-Beaune, in a nice valley. They are very well oriented, facing East- South-Ouest. Their altitude varies from 260 to 380 m. Characteristics The Clos de la Croix de Pierre is located next to the famous premier cru « En Caradeux ». It is not far from the very typical village of Pernand. The soil is calcarous and very stony on the surface. "Croix the pierre" represents a big cross at the entrance of the vineyard. Most of this vineyard is planted with Pinot Noir. Wine making The grapes are pressed and then put in French oak barrels during 15 to 18 months. Winemaker's comments / Gastronomy « Clos de la Croix de Pierre » is a very well-balanced wine, very straight with a nice structure. The vine has been planted rather recently. It matches very well white meat, vegetable gratins and cheeses such as Comté and goat cheeses. Preservation Pernand Croix de Pierre white will be able to keep between 5 to 10 years according to the vintage and the storage conditions.
