1 GENERAL INTRODUCTION
1.1 BOAT DESCRIPTION
The boat has been specially designed for high performance and excellent seaworthiness.
The hull is monoedric, planing V-bottom type. This design combines optimum hull-carrying capacity with a
smooth wave response.
The structural tanks are placed longitudinally across the hull. This layout not only guarantees an outstanding
range, but is also a great safety feature; it creates a double bottom which is completely closed, protecting
the boat from the effects of possible accidents to the ship’s hull. The tanks are barycentric. This ensures a
steady trim; in other words a better use of the bilge during the various displacements, from full to empty
load. The reduced height of the tanks allows perfect stability at anchor.
Great attention has been given to the insulation of the engine room and the silence of the engines. When
the boat navigates at high speed the engine’s exhaust emissions are depleted through a specially designed
submerged exhaust. This increases the engine’s working potential, preventing episodes of counter pressure.
In order to make it user-friendly during manoeuvres, the exhaust emissions come out astern through a silent
surface pipe.
The hull is built in fibreglass material. To guarantee the hull’s protection from osmosis a vinylester resin is
used for external lamination plies. The side of the hull and extended parts of the superstructure are
sandwich laminated, with structural PVC (RINA approved) as core material, to guarantee the best structural
and insulation features. All the structural measurements are calculated on the basis of RINA requests for
class A design, which is the most important EC boat certificate available. The hull structure is longitudinal,
strengthened by reinforced floors and ribs.
The structural tanks stretch for most of the guest cabins’ length and also function as the primary longitudinal
beam. Each tank is completely covered with a protective film, the material of which is selected to suit the
chemical fluids contained in them.
The fuel tanks are completely lined with Plastigel or equivalent hydrocarbon resistant material. As these
tanks are in contact with hydrocarbon and fuel, this treatment guarantees the structure’s durability.
The structural tanks set aside to hold fresh water have been previously treated with an alimentary gel
coating.
The watertight bulkheads are made in sandwich using plywood with an expanded plastic core. This
guarantees good insulation properties, structural resistance and sound isolation.
N.B. The colour of gelcoat is chosen by the Shipyard. On request, the boat can be painted with the wanted color for an extra charge

1.3 PERFORMANCE
The prior performances are to be considered in case of boats in the following load conditions:
Fuel
Water
Passengers
Trial diplacement
1.70 t (equal to 2.000 litri)
1 t (equal to 1.000 litri)
1.00 t (10 persons)
80 t
The boat is supplied with a unique type of reduction gearbox, which has been specially studied for ongoing
navigation in displacement navigation, using a single engine.
In case of CATERPILLAR motorization: during such manoeuvres the engine must be used at a minimum
speed of 1450 rpm (approximately 11±0.2 knots). This arrangement, which can be employed during long
journeys or night navigation, allows a range of 800±30 miles.
In case of MTU motorization: the same performance can be achieved with both engines running at 1050
rpm.

6 SYSTEMS
6.1 OIL SYSTEM
The oil system consists of two switchboards. The first multifunctional one, with double engine and manual
emergency, supplies the flaps, the gangway, the swimming ladder, the small crane and the hatch opening
on the stern. There is an emergency manual function for the swimming ladder and the gangway.
The other switchboard supplies the wheelhouse and the automatic pilot.
6.1.1 Rudders
The boat is supplied with two stainless steel ‘sword’ rudders with oil controls; these rudders are provided
with an anodic protection system with built-in zinc.
There is also an extra aft bar to be used in case of emergency for manoeuvres from the after peak.
6.1.2 Flaps
There are two stainless steel flaps, both lined up with the bottom, on the aft mirror. The flap movement is
determined by the oil switchboard controlling four pistons. The control switch is located on the fly bridge and
in the wheelhouse with a signal for the opening angle.
6.1.3 Bow e stern thrusters
There is a hydraulic rigging system with bow and stern propellers (its overall power is 700 kgf, i.e. 86 hp).
The pumps that activate the propellers are fitted out on two reversing gearboxes. They are connected in
parallel. If a propeller will not work properly, it is still possible to activate the system. The control system can
be found in every control station on the boat.
Including radio control, if required as an alternative to the third station command
6.2 BILGE
The main bilge suction point consists of a powerful suction pump from a clarinet with valves able to isolate
the different boat compartments, sucking up from one or more of them.
A manual pump is available in case of any damage to the electric pump.
The second suction point consists of single 24V automatic bilge pumps placed in different areas on the boat.
These bilge pumps are activated both automatically (by water) and manually (from the wheelhouse).
The bilges positioned under the main engines and the reversing gearboxes are isolated from the adjoining

ones. This allows a specially placed pump to suck up the bilge with the highest oil content, whereas bilges in
other areas discharge overboard.
All the bilge system pipe-lines (in the engine room, the manifolds and the flanges) and every other
component built by the shipyard, including the pipe fittings, are made in accordance with laws in force.
6.3 FIRE-EXTINGUISHER
There are two hydrants installed on the main deck, aft and on the bow.
The hydrants are not connected to the bilge pump, but to a powerful electric suction pump.
The engine system is provided with FM200 fire extinguishing equipment, which can be manually activated
from the aft cockpit.
The FM200 extinguishing equipment is also provided with a fire detecting system, siren alarm and an
automatically released device that shuts down the fuel supply to the engine room and ventilation fans.
There are hand operated fire-extinguishers in every room, as requested by RINA.
There are smoke alarms in the engine room, in the galley and the technical room under the wheelhouse.
6.4 WATER SYSTEM
A fixed tank with a 2000 litre capacity stores fresh water.
The tank has an electrical system, with an indicator in the wheelhouse, which measures the water level.
Two autoclaves activated by two pumps, one of which is in ‘stand-by’ mode, distribute the water. A dock
side connection loads the water onto the onboard system, through a pressure reducer, when the boat is
next to the quay.
All water used on board is sterilized through a U.V. sterilizer with a capacity of 5000 litres per hour.
The hot water system includes one collector and one 250 litre boiler.
There is a hot and cold water shower outside.
An inverse osmosis water maker is also provided, with a power supply of 220 V and able to provide 220
litres per hour at 25° C.
6.5 GREY AND BLACK WASTE WATER TANKS
The boat is supplied with TECMA toilets. These toilets flush the water and send it through electric pumps to
the distribution collector. What is collected is then emptied in the black waste water tank. This tank is not
only serviced by a twin self-priming electric pump (one pump in ‘stand-by’ mode) with a big stainless screw
grinding system, activated both manually and automatically, but is also provided with a flange for dock side
discharge.
The washbasin, shower and bidet water is carried to the grey waste water tanks. The galley waste water is
also carried to the grey waste water tank through a by-pass or directly outboard. The grey water waste is
also serviced by two self-priming electric pumps, one of which is in ‘stand-by’ mode, with bronze impellers.
The electric pumps, both for grey and black waste water tanks, work without a filtering system – as they are
grinding pumps.

6.6 AIR CONDITIONING AND REFRIGERATORS
Rooms are provided with an individually controlled air conditioning system.
The system is centralized and runs on water. The air conditioning station is located in the engine system.
Air is distributed by fan-coils installed in the rooms, according to their specific measurements and needs.
Particular care is given to the drainage of the condensation water produced by these fan-coils. This water is
collected in a special tank and emptied automatically overboard.
The water is distributed from the main station to the fan-coils through pipes which are carefully insulated to
lessen thermal dispersion.
If bad weather during navigation makes it necessary for doors and windows to be shut, the wheelhouse is
aired by a forced ventilation system.
The air conditioning system is able to maintain a constant temperature of 23°C with an external temperature
from 2°C to 35°C
If the option selected does not include the Samsung fridge, the refrigerators and freezers installed on board
are connected to one or more refrigerator switchboards placed in the engine room. These 220V
switchboards are given as standard equipment; on request can be realized double engines and double
compressors 220V-24V switchboards (this request is to be considered extra cost).
Refrigerators are equipped with double compressors and motors in 220 V AC. In 24 DC will be considered
extra cost.
The refrigerator pipes are thermical insulated to prevent leaks.
6.7 VENTILATION OF THE ENGINE SYSTEM
The ventilation of the engine system is achieved through an external air intake duly supplied with Munters
separators or their equivalent. Two fans connected to external aft grills ensure air extraction. The maximum
air intake of each fan is 22 mc per minute.
The fans are automatically activated through thermostats or manually activated.
The extractors are 24V supplied so it’s not necessary to navigate with the groups in motion.
6.8 FUEL SYSTEM
The fuel is contained in a structural tank, placed beneath the accommodation area, extending into the
engine room on the bow. It has a 10000 litres capacity (11500 in the long range version).
RACOR or SEPAR filters are fitted on the engine extractor and the group of generators.
A gravity based procedure ensures the loading of fuel. The fuel is processed through pipe-unions arranged in
a specially closed structure on the outside of the deckhouse, port and starboard side, whereas the double
bottom air holes lead overboard close to the water line.
All pipes for the transport of fuel are made of metal or certified as fire resistant in accordance with the
international standard ISO 7840.

navigation the batteries are recharged by an alternator installed on one of the engines.
8.4.2 Exhaust emissions
The main engine exhaust emission is submerged. The exhaust at idle speed is lead astern within the rudding
band, above the waterline.
The mufflers are all single jacket, built in steel with stainless steel fittings to prevent any heat distribution in
the engine room. The water is directly injected into the gas to cool the temperature and reduce the noise
and smoke levels in the exit part of the exhaust pipes.
The diesel generators discharge overboard astern, above sea level. They use suitable silent Aqualift
converters.
On customer’s request can be install silencers of the company CO.FE.ME. on the main engines (this request

made in light alloy.
In the ducts the electric wires are layered and fixed by plastic rings to avoid the wires being damaged or
making a noise during navigation.
In the bilges the wires are enclosed in flexible sheathing from the duct to the electric system. In the
accommodation area, the wires in the ceilings and remaining spaces are specially fixed with appropriate
fittings in the walls.
9.6 MAIN POWER BOARD
9.6.1 General introduction
All the AC energy supplies are under a main power board located in the machinery space.
All internal board equipment is labelled with reference to the electric wiring circuits.
The labels refer to the electric wiring circuits.
The main power supply is protected by thermal magnetic switches complete with differential modules.
In case of 380Vac 3Ph+N (considered extra cost) is provided a safety switch at the shore line against phase
reversal and surge voltage necessary to safeguard the passengers on board.
The manoeuvring equipment (contactors, auxiliary relays, thermal overload cut-out, etc.), the fuse seats, the
fuses, the auxiliary equipment (timers, static thresholds, etc.) are all EC labelled, of a modular type and
easily available all over the world.
The equipment mounted on the inspection manhole (such as signalling lights, alarm lights, switches and
selectors) are built to make manoeuvring and recognition as simple as possible, assisted by synoptic panels
which are easy to interpret.
The 220Vac or 380Vac (considered extra cost) system bars are divided into two sections, each of which
supplies power to half the load on board. The two systems are divided by a contactor that allows the
following arrangements:
Arrangement A (closed isolator) - a generator or an earth connection supply power to the system.
Arrangement B (open isolator) - two generators or one generator and the shore supply power to the entire
system providing each to its own section needs, without the need to perform a parallel between them.
There are mechanisms inside the power board that prevent a power supply from being connected in
unexpected conditions, even in the case of a false manoeuvre. The use of these mechanisms does not
disconnect the power supply in the network, but simply prevents the user from activating it by mistake.
9.7 WHEELHOUSE PANEL
The following circuits are wired in the wheelhouse panel:
Auxiliary navigation circuits,
Navigation light cards,
Appropriate 24Vdc starting circuits
Special care has been given to the graphics, which match the wheelhouse design.

The inspection manhole is divided into different sections and is used to control the various systems.
All controls and emergency signals are connected to this panel.
9.8 ACCOMMODATION SWITCHBOARD
The electrical system is radial.
The input circuits, the lighting control and other appliances provided in each cabin originate from a small
distribution switchboard built into the accommodation area.
An independent line connected to the main board supplies power to each switchboard. Switches and/or
fuses protecting the lines connected to it are inside these switchboards.
The cables are the same as those in the main electric board.
On board there are the following switchboards:
VIP cabin switchboard;
Starboard side guest cabin switchboard;
Port side guest cabin switchboard;
Master cabin switchboard;
Crew cabin switchboard
9.9 INVERTER 24Vdc/220Vac
The system is supplied with a Mastervolt inverter 24Vdc / 220Vac 2500W.
In the absence of network, the inverter will automatically supply power to the following:
HI-FI / TV , decoder, dvd installed on board
Radio charger
Telephone switchboard
Wheelhouse switch
Bathroom extractors
A second 24V/220Vac 2500W inverter is installed with option B, which includes a Samsung fridge.
During navigation this inverter supplies power to the refrigerator.
9.10 GROUND SYSTEM
All equipment on board, whose power could be dangerous to individual safety, is earthed by ropes and
copper socks of an appropriate size.
The system is radial-type connected to a dedicated porous round plate.
The boat is equipped with a lightning conductor with seven receivers situated on the highest part of the roll-
bar.
