Operating Principal:The Rotho® Peristaltic Hose Pump is a positive displacement transfer ma-

chine used for pumping a variety of substances. The pumping action, known

as “peristalsis”, is found in many biological systems such as the gastrointes-

tinal tract.

The fluid being transferred is confined within a reinforced internal hose

located within the pump housing. The pumping action occurs

when the pump roller glides over and compresses the internal

hose, creating pressure which forces fluid out. Once the roller

passes, the internal hose returns to the uncompressed state,

creating a vacuum, which will draws fluid in. The alternation be-

tween compression and expansion of the internal hose creates a

constant rate of displacement.

The Rotho® peristaltic pump line has a capacity range from 0.1

(GPH) gallons per hour to over 800 (GPM) gallons per minute.

Roller vs. ShoeAll Rotho® Peristaltic Hose Pumps take advantage of the ultra-efficient “Roller”

design. The use of rollers eliminate the requirement for a messy lubrication

bath within the pump housing. When compared to others, the Rotho® “Roller”

method greatly reduces damaging friction to the surface of the internal pump

hose.

The Rotho® Peristaltic Hose Pump is able to handle abra-sive and aggressive fluids more effectively than most other styles of pumps. The pumped fluid is confined within the reinforced internal hose and is isolated from the mechani-cal pump components. The fluid isolation also makes the Rotho® Peristaltic Hose Pump appropriate for products that may crystallize.

Versatile

The Rotho® Peristaltic Hose Pump is suitable for many appli-cations and is compatible with a wide range of fluids. Select-ing the most appropriate internal hose based on chemical compatibility, operating pressures, temperature and duty cycle will ensure smooth operation.

Capable

The Rotho® Peristaltic Hose Pump features an unobstructed flow path, making it ideal for the transfer of fluids with sus-pended solids. Free of glands, valves and seals, the Rotho® Peristaltic Hose Pump can effectively transfer shear-sensitive and foamy products. The pump provides a gentle, non-emulsifying transfer for delicate products.

Accurate

The Rotho® Peristaltic Hose Pump is perfect for dosing and metering applications. Examples include Sodium Hypochlo-rite, Sodium Bisulfite, Ferric Chloride, Polymers, Lime Slurry and Carbon Slurry.

Chemicals such as Sodium Hypochlorite which emit gas during transfer are no problem for the Rotho® Peristaltic Hose Pump.

Powerful

The Rotho® Peristaltic Hose pump is completely self-priming and capable of generating 29 Hg, close to a perfect vacuum. The tremendous suction capabilities make this pump per-fect for highly viscous fluids such as honey, resins and sludge and ideal for negative suction lift applications.

Rotho® Hoses

The textile reinforced elastomeric hose

is the core of the Rotho® Peristaltic

pump. Hoses are available in a variety

of materials including EPDM, Hypalon®,

Nitrile, Polypropylene and Natural Iso-

prene. The handmade hoses are date

stamped and contain up to six layers

of reinforcement, with a burst rating

four times greater than the pump’s

maximum working pressure.

Pulse Dampener Rotho peristaltic pump dampeners reduce pulsation, increase efficiency, and extend internal hose life. Damp-eners can be factory installed and are recommended for high pressure, viscous and negative lift applications.

M and L-Series Rotho® Peristaltic Hose Pumps can be equipped with an in-tegral mechanical feeder. Commonly used in the manufacturing of wine and olive oil production, the feeder is designed to deliver solid laden, non-flowing material to the pump inlet.

Feeder

All Rotho® Peristaltic Hose Pumps are equipped with an integral leak detec tor. Designed to detect internal hose failure, the switch is commonly wired to disable the pump and notify personnel. Completely isolated, the Rotho® leak detector eliminates nui-sance trips common with other leak detection methods.

Leak Detector

The M-Series Rotho® Peristaltic Hose Pump is available with an exclusive re-tractable roller system. This innovative mechanism retracts one roller from the internal peristaltic hose without the need to open the pump housing or remove protective guards.

The Rotho® retractable roller system is ideal for applications such as food handling, which require systematic cleaning and sterilization.
