Periodicity

Peter Kartsounis’ paintings of intervallic patterns draw inspiration from fundamental principles of sequence, linearity and continuity: principles that are embedded in the human psyche and that contribute to our comprehension of time and space, motion and language.

The grids, visual rhythms or optical effects in my compositions are not pre-planned: they emerge as I engage with the process of extending a small set of principles across a larger field, each canvas a meditation on order achieved through repetition.
