Diabetes in Pregnancy Program TheDiabetesinPregnancyProgramprovidesdiabetescareandeducation*frompreconceptionthroughpostpartumforwomenwithdiabetes.

Theprogramisdesignedtohelpwomenachieveoptimalglucosecontrol andminimizetheriskofdiabetesrelatedcomplicationsduringpregnancy. Theprogramoffersthelatestglucosemonitors,therapiesandstrategiesto promoteglycemiccontrol,includingglucosesensorsandinsulinpumptherapy.Instructorsoftheeducation*programincludeacertifieddiabeteseducator andregistereddietitian.

TheMeriterDiabetesSelfManagementEducationProgramhasbeenRecognizedbytheAmericanDiabetesAssociationforQuality Self-ManagementEducation*.

Birthing Center and Antepartum/Post Partum Units TheMaternalFetalMedicineProgramprovidesinpatientLevelIIIobstetric careforantepartum,intrapartumandpostpartumpatients.Maternaltransports bygroundorairareacceptedbytheattendingmaternalfetalmedicinespecialists24hoursaday,sevendaysaweek.

Newborn Intensive Care ServicesTheneonatalteam—UniversityofWisconsinboard-certifiedneonatologists,neonatalnursepractitioners,hospitalists,nurses,nutritionists,pharmacists,lactationconsultants,andsocialworkersalongwithphysical,occupational,speechandrespiratorytherapists.Theteamcaresformorethan450prematureand/orillinfantseachyear.Theteamsharesacommitmenttotransferringinfantsbacktotheircommunityhospitalswhentheyhavemadesufficientprogress.

The30-bed,tertiary-careNewbornIntensiveCareUnitoffersacomprehensivespectrumofpediatricandsurgicalsub-specialties.TheNICUissupportedbystate-of-the-artfacilitiesforresuscitationofthehigh-riskinfant,andbyaNeonatalSimulationCenterthatisusedforoptimizingprovidertrainingin theskillsappliedinneonatalresuscitation.Family-centeredcareisprovided inprivatesingle-familyrooms. TheUWDepartmentofObstetricsandGynecologyReproductiveSciencesDivision,theUWDepartmentofPediatricsandDivisionofNeonatology,theWaismanCenter,andtheCenterforPerinatalCarearenationallyandinternationallyrecognizedforparticipationinresearchinmaternal,fetal andneonatalphysiologyanddisorders.

New Era In Neonatal Follow-Up WearepleasedtointroduceourpartnershipwiththeUWDepartmentofPediatricsandtheWaismanCenter,aninternationallyrecognizedcenterfortheadvancementofknowledgeabouthumandevelopment,developmentaldisabilities.QualifyinginfantswhograduatefromtheMeriterNICUwillbeenrolledinanewNICUfollow-upclinicbasedattheWaismanCenterwheretheywillhavedevelopmentalscreeningandsupportforcomplicationsofprematurityandotherdisordersofthehigh-riskinfant.
