•The word perfume is taken from the Latin expression "per fumum", which means a smell obtained “through smoke”.

Perfume History•The latter is indeed one of the most ancient means of

diffusing a smell.

•As early as antiquity, Egypt represented one of the most important centers for perfumes. Egyptians' beliefs compelled them to develop their knowledge about perfumes to embalm their Pharaohs' mummies.

•Greeks attached a divine origin to perfumes, and their dead, whose bodies were perfumed, were buried with their personal belongings, including the necessary perfume bottle.

The art of perfumery has been known in western Europe ever since 1221.

•In eastern Europe in 1370, the Hungarians produced a perfume made of scented oils blended in an alcohol solution at the command of Queen Elizabeth of Hungary. This is best known as Hungary Water.

•The art of perfumery prospered in Renaissance Italy, and in the 16th century, Italian refinements were taken to France.

Notes of Perfume•The Head Note (the start) : is the first note

to be inhaled and give the starting olfactory sensation. It is generally the one we smell when opening the perfume bottle.

•The Heart Note (the bouquet) : is inhaled afterwards and characterizes the perfume with its imposing scents.

•The Back Note ( the wake) : is the one that remains for the longest time - even for hours - and that which we remember most.
