KEYNOTE STREAMING PERSPECTIVE Give Your Audience the Streaming Quality They Expect Your audience will abandon your Web site if they experience long buffering delays or broken links. Ensure you are providing the best streaming experience possible with Keynote Streaming Perspective ® , a Web-based, automated service that measures the quality and reliability of streaming media delivery from the end-user perspective. If you are streaming live content, Streaming Perspective can be your early warning system when an encoder is down. Or, if you have on-demand content, Streaming Perspective will tell you whether you need to add server capacity, a caching system or perhaps switch to an outsourced provider. If you have already outsourced your stream hosting, you can also use Streaming Perspective to ensure that your hosting provider is living up to their Service Level Agreement (SLA). How Streaming Perspective Works Keynote measures your audio and video streams from multiple locations throughout the US, Japan and Europe, using measurement computers called ‘agents’. These agents attempt to connect to your streams 10 times per hour. Once connected, the agent will play your content for 60 seconds while recording the following data: • Network statistics (e.g. DNS time, traceroutes, packet statistics) • Streaming statistics (e.g. connection success rate, bit rate, connect/buffer/rebuffer time) • Server statistics (e.g. server type, serving platform, streaming protocol) • Presentation statistics (e.g. frame rate, player errors, metafiles & URLs) • Increased checking frequencies and longer check durations are also available upon request Performance Management MEASURE WITH THE LATEST VERSIONS OF REALPLAYER AND WINDOWS MEDIA Streaming Perspective uses the latest versions of RealPlayer and Windows Media Player to measure your streaming performance— giving you the most representative results available. Keynote Streaming Perspective is also the official source of measurement behind the Microsoft Windows Media 9 Series Certification Program. When your streaming content absolutely must be up and running, rely on the industry standard service to measure and manage it. Assure streaming quality from the end-user perspective. At the heart of Keynote’s Streaming Perspective service is a network of measurement agents distributed throughout Europe, Canada and the United States. These agents are connected to the public Internet and run proprietary software that mimics the behavior of a streaming client such as RealPlayer or Windows Media Player.

Simplify Streaming Measurement with Our StreamQ Rating System Keynote’s StreamQTM is a proprietary metric that is rapidly becoming an industry standard for measuring the streaming media user experience.StreamQ is measured in letter grades from A+ to Fthat indicate the amount of time a user had to wait or experience interruptions (“Frustration Time”) versus the time actually spent enjoying the content(“Play Time”). To determine the StreamQ for a particular check, Keynote adds up the connect time, buffer time and rebuffer time. Then, a two secondpenalty is added for each rebuffer event. If thisfinal "adjusted frustration time" is less than 6 seconds, the grade is an A+; 6 to 9 seconds A, 9 to 12 seconds, B+, etc.

Three Versions of Streaming Perspective to Choose from...Streaming Perspective Monitoring—This is Keynote’s basic streaming service, designed for long durationmeasurement of a fixed set of URLs. Like all the Streaming Perspective services, it includes access to ourreal-time Web interface instant email alarms, daily or weekly reports and an XML data feed.

Streaming Perspective Diagnostic—The diagnostic edition of our Streaming Perspective service gives youeven greater control by allowing you to self-provision your own tests, diagnose complex streaming installations and compare service providers. To use Keynote’s Diagnostic Service, you purchase "channels"that reserve capacity for your tests. Each channel allows you to measure one URL at a time at the standardfrequency of 10 checks per hour. You are free to change that URL as often as possible, so there is no limitto how many URLs can be measured within a given time. If you need to measure more than one URL concurrently, you can purchase multiple channels.

Streaming Perspective Live Event—Designed specifically for short duration events of high value, our Live Event service offers increased checking frequency which can be as high 30 checks per hour. Althoughmost events of this nature are live, you can also use our Live Event service to ensure recorded events are performing as expected.
