DTS M-cell Based Drives

Unique M-cell drives 120 GB SSD with 1 GB intelligent memory Intelligent UPS (back up time of one

minute) High data transfer rate compared to

conventional drives. Lightweight unlike contemporary ones Its evaluation was carried out at N-SEECS

Page 3: Performance Evaluation of M- cell based Drives Presented By: Dr Hafiz Farooq Sohail Sarwar.

Performance Evaluation

Our goal was Not only to measure the effectiveness of M-cell based

drives. But also evaluation of combined effect of ‘C-4

PlatinumCache’ and ‘DTS M-cell’. C-4 is DTS product showing 10-100 % improvement in

carrying out IO operations

“Iometer”, an open source tool used for M-cell drives evaluation.

IO performance of conventional drives for comparative analysis of DTS products

Performance Evaluation Scenarios

In order to fully measure the effectiveness of system We sought out four scenarios:

IO performance of Conventional drives IO performance of Conventional drives with C-4 IO performance of M-cell drives IO performance of M-cell drives with C-4

Performance Evaluation- System Configurations

The overall evaluation was carried out using the following system configurations

Pentium (R) 3 GHz Processor 2 GB RAM 240 GB SATA SSD (M-cell based and conventional) Windows XP (Service Pack-2) Varying size of Read & Write requests Varying level of sequential and Random data

requests

Now we discuss performance &Results.

Scenario-1

We evaluate the conventional SSD simply and observe their

performance.

Conclusion

The overall performance shown by M-cell is fabulous.

The instilling of C-4 on system improves performance as well.

In some cases if M-cell does not show IO improvement, it shows reduced response time

We plan to evaluate m-cell on real time application.
