Update: May 2018 The Paris-Lyon high speed rail line is one of the world’s busiest, handling one- third of all national high speed traffic. This line has reached its maximum of 13 trains per hour at peak traffic times. The larger Global Project will increase capacity and meet train path needs at peak hours, estimated at 14 paths in 2020, 15 in 2025 and 16 in 2030 and thereafter. The present project concerned the following initial studies aiming at identifying and specifying the necessary steps to leverage achievement of the Global Project's performance targets, namely to: - Gauge potential developments in demand for services on the Paris– Lyon corridor - Establish when saturation point will be reached: i.e. to determine from what point will it be impossible to cater to demand - Design timetable graphs corresponding to this demand - Agree on the improvements needed to relieve congestion on the line and cater to the expected demand - Assess the performance standards that could be attained through investment The Action is closed.
