There is increased emphasis on children’s

writing today, but the em-phasis is on writing storiesand essays that demon-strate that children arelearning to think. However, before children can writeanything, they must learncursive handwriting. De-spite the influence of newtechnologies, the computerand the word processorhave not replaced the needto learn how to print or writ.Over the years, it is noticedthat some doctors’,computer professionalsand company executives’handwriting decline. Theyall have excuses. We feelthat a lot of the problem isthat we allow ourselves tomake excuses to be lazy. Ifone considers that poorhandwriting could land youin the middle of a messy lawsuit, it is amazing how mucheasier it is to write legibly.

Can your teacher readwhat you write?

Effects of bad handwritingHandwriting fluency canaffect completing writtenassignments, ability to takenotes during class. The useof fixed-time examinationsto assess your child’sknowledge is used inschools, colleges and inter-views for many years.Students with slow writingspeed, the true assessmentof their knowledge may bemasked by their inability towrite fast and express them-selves within the time givenfor the examination. Badhandwriting can also leadteachers to misunderstandwhat is written and promptthem to depart with lowmarks in examinations. What will your child gainafter Improving hisHandwriting?
