    WHA IS PEP?Te purpose o PEP is to bring parents o childrenwith disabilities together in an accepting and con-dential environment, giving them the opportunityto share ideas, eelings and common concerns, andto obtain inormation on parenting and educatinga child with a disability. A major objective o the

    weekend is to help parents realize that each is doingthe best he/she can do at this time. By the end othe conerence, parents will go home with renewedenergy, spirit, hope and a desire to work closely with

    proessionals who serve their child so that everychild can experience the ullest lie.

    WHO SHOULD AEND?Tis conerence is open to all Nebraska parentswho are raising a child with a veried disability. Techild with the disability must have either an activeIFSP or IEP.

    A small number o openings are reserved or edu-cation proessionals who serve children with dis-abilities and are employed in NE school districts.Proessionals will experience PEP rom a parentperspective.

    Enrollment is limited to 100 participants and regis-tration is on a rst come, rst serve basis.

    directly to your address or PEP 2014.

    HOW DO I REGISER?o register, rst read the Guidelines or Participa-tion in the PEP Conerence. Ten complete andreturn the conerence registration orm. Conrma-

    tion will be mailed to you and a hotel room willbe reserved in your name. Do notregister with thehotel directly. For urther inormation, call AnnFigard at the Nebraska Department o Education,Special Education Oce, at 402-471-2471 (Voice/

    DD).

    GUIDELINES FORPARICIPAION

    Please share inormation about this conerencewith other parents or proessionals who might liketo attend. Please do not register i you have attendedPEP within the last 8 years.

    For married couples, both husband and wie arerequired to register and attend the conerence.Tegreatest benets are gained when parents experiencePEP together.

    Single parents are welcome to attend PEP.A support person may accompany a single parentprovided this adult shares responsibility in raising thechild, is actively involved in the childs educationalprogram and is willing to ully participate in PEP.

    Please make your own childcare arrangementsas childcare is not provided at PEP.Participants willgain the maximum benet without the disruption ochildren. No children are allowed to stay at the hotelor attend PEP sessions.

    Participants must attend the entire conerenceand cannot be accepted on a part-time basis.

    Dinner on Tursday, breakast and lunch onFriday and Saturday, and lodging will be provided.Dinner on Friday is on your own. ransportationcosts to and rom PEP will not be reimbursed.

    Dress or the entire conerence is casual.

    Participants are responsible or any physicaldamage to the hotels property as a result o misuseor recklessness, as well as charges or telephone callsor other incidentals.

    Once you have registered or PEP, youare expected to attend because the NebraskaDepartment o Education, Special Education

    Oce, has fnancially committed to the hotel oryour room and meals. I an emergency arises thatprevents you rom attending PEP, please notiy us at(402) 471-2471 immediately so we can cancel yourreservation and allow others to register.
