Ann Grover Retires
After nearly 20 years of service at Villa Teresa and St. Andrew’s, Ann has decided to join her husband, Deacon Clyde, in retirement. He just stepped down from his teaching position at Bishop McGuinness High School after 23 years of service. They want to spend as much time as possible in the years to come traveling and visiting children and family members who live in the east and west and points in between. Chris lives in the Tampa Bay area where he has duties as a Major in the USAF. MaryAnn only recently graduated from Law School and has a new job in the Richmond, VA area. Fr. Danny, Jennifer and Matt all live here in the Metro. Deacon Clyde’s family lives in the Northeast and Ann’s family lives in California. Unfortunately, the aftermath of the pandemic may slow them down a little. While they have resided in Choctaw since their home was destroyed by the May 2013 tornado, they will continue to make their spiritual home here at St. Andrew’s. They have been here continuously since 1997 but they also lived here a few years before that while Ann was still serving in the USAF. Ann has done a wonderful job as RE Secretary since 2012 and we hate to see her go. But she has indicated a willingness to help out as needed, maybe filling in for one staff member or another. Thanks, Ann, for your generous service to your family, to the church, and to your St. Andrew’s family.

With Ann Grover’s retirement, we are in search of a qualified individual to serve as a part-time Christian Formation Secretary. This position requires the customary office skills, especially the knowledge of Office 365 (Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher) as well as learning other pieces of software we use day to day. This individual offers secretarial assistance to our Christian Formation Director and to our Youth Ministry Coordinators. A flair for editing our parish website would make candidates even more attractive. Must have good communication skills and an ability to work well with others as we seek to address ourselves to accomplishing the mission of the church.

Online Giving is also available at our web site along with a host of information about the parish. You may also read the bulletin (and past bulletins) on the web page.
At St. Andrew’s we don’t encourage the use of FB for the purpose of arguing or debating political and church beliefs. Rather, we make available both a public (accessible to anyone) and a group (accessible mainly to parishioners) page for the purpose of sharing announcements of events and programs and a place from which to Live stream some of our services. Any use which gives honor and glory to God is welcomed and encouraged.

Join us for a fun filled LIFE NIGHT. We have the pleasure of having Kedon Gumerson of Kid Catholic join us. Kedon is a Catholic apologetic Youtuber, speaker, and radio show host that has given talks at various schools, parishes, and events across the United States. Parents please be on the lookout for an email message from Youth Ministry with the Zoom meeting information.
JUNE 9,2020 AT 7PM ON ZOOM
We are beginning to get excited about our greatly expanded food pantry that will be located in the new addition to our Youth Center. We will have a thousand square feet of space complete with a walk-in freezer and room for all kinds of things. This move is expected to happen by September. This will free up the space we have been using in the 2005 addition for parish storage areas.
THANKS FOR YOUR ONGOING
GENEROSITY!
PENTECOST SUNDAY WWW.STANDREWMOORE.COM MAY 31, 2020
May is national stroke awareness month. This is a good time to refresh our memory about how to protect
ourselves and those we love from the often-devastating effects of a cerebral vascular accident (CVA) “stroke”.
Strokes rank 5th among all causes of deaths in the United States. In getting help for someone having a stroke
there is no time to waste. Every second a stroke goes untreated; 30,000 brain cells die. The most important part
of getting timely treatment for a stroke is recognizing the symptoms as described in B.E. F.A.S.T. There are
some major symptoms that are easily recognized. Symptoms include sudden onset of a droopy face on one
side, weakness of the arm or leg on one side and inability to speak. Get help immediately! There is no time to
waste.
B.E. F.A.S.T.
B - Balance: Watch for sudden loss of balance. Is the person leaning to one side?
E - Eyes: Is there a sudden loss of vision in one or both eyes? Is there double vison?
F - Face: Ask the person to smile. Is the smile uneven or does the side of the face droop? Is there drooling?
A - Arms: Ask the person to lift both arms. Does one arm drift downward? Does the arm or leg feel numb or
weak? Does the arm or leg feel like it is asleep (person wants to shake it awake)?
S – Speech: Sudden difficulty in speaking or understanding. Does the speech sound slurred/garbled/
strange?
T – Time: If you observe these signs in yourself or others call 911 quickly: Do not drive the person to the local
emergency room. By contacting Emergency Medical Services, assessment and treatment can be started
sooner.
Be informed, be vigilant, and if you think you or someone you are with is having a stroke,
B.E. F.A.S.T. Your quick response could save a life.
