Pastoral Council: Summary of May 24, 2017 meeting Present: Linda Bealey, Dr. Barbara Fontana, Ginny Lutz, Vinny Manzello, John O’Hare, Jeff
Steinbrecher, Fran Turecamo, Fr. Frank. Absent: Elenore LaPorta, Jim MacDougall, Rich Rossin.
Pastor’s Report: Fr. Frank updated the Council on a few items. First, we are now actively
involved in seeking a part-time youth minister and the hiring date is open-ended at this
time. Fr. Frank is working with the Finance Committee in finding the resources in next
year’s budget (which begins in September). We are all set for the 11:15 mass for Duck
Pond Day, although we were not able to form a Marching Band for the day. We will cele-
brate our 95th parish anniversary and also Fr. Frank’s pastor installation at the 11:15 mass
on June 11th. A parish reception and activities for the children are planned after the mass.
The Mission Statement was finalized, taking into account the feedback submitted from pa-
rishioners. There was an overwhelming sense from the respondents that the statement re-
flects our parish identity, and the Council adjusted the statement to make it a little clearer.
Stewardship Renewal in fall: The Council was open to the proposal that we combine “Time,
Talent and Treasure” during our Stewardship campaign during the month of October. Three
weekends will help us renew our commitment to building up our church and parish: Cele-
bration of Ministries, Financial Report, Commitment Renewal.
Ending of First Year, looking ahead: the Council has been working on the five-year pastoral
plan that will bring us to the 100th Anniversary of our parish in June 2012. Members brain-
stormed about the accomplishments this year which already starts to implement the six
General Goals. The Five Year Plan will be presented to the parish in the middle of June.
Three goals were set by the Council for next year: Support the beginnings of our Youth
Ministry, coordinate and follow up on the Celebration of Ministries weekend, and take a
step into Adult Formation, especially with “back-to-basics” evenings for interested parish-
ioners. Fr. Frank will solicit ideas of topics for these evenings from parishioners through
the bulletin.
Council Bylaws and Terms: The Council will be using the diocesan guidelines for pastoral
councils and modifying them to fit the shape of our own pastoral council. Members serve
in rotation for three-year terms, which will be decided by lottery at our next meeting on

Please consider “automated giving” as you reflect on support of our
parish family! The fruitful ministries at our parish are exam-
ples of how many of you have answered, and
continue to answer, that call. To ensure such
work can continue requires not only gifts of
time, but also of financial help. I ask you to
prayerfully consider supporting our parish
with electronic donations through Faith
Direct. You can find paper enrollment forms
in the parish office, or you can sign up online at www.faithdirect.net by using our
church code, NY67.
