Pentecost Sunday “Managing Uncertainty” RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT! Our Lord's appearance through locked doors might seem like forced entry and thus incompatible with Love. But God knows our hearts, therefore, our Savior not only loves with a boundless love all those who are on the other side of the door, but He also knows that they love Him and it is out of fear that the doors are locked. Jesus touches us through His Holy Spirit and challenges us to meditate on "His Hands and His Side". This is Almighty God Who stands before us with these Wounds. From a human perspective, shouldn't our Lord feel undignified or embarrassed? A deep absorption into these Wounds, however, will undoubtedly disclose that love is the reason for them – and love conquers all. In this Gospel the apostles get that. Don't forget they love Him too as we love Him; and what should have been a room full of uncomfortable looking faces staring at this marred Man, instead there was rejoicing. Since they love Jesus, if the doors of their hearts locked Him out because of the shame of abandoning Him, Jesus, because there is mutual love, is able by His Divine Power to go through those locked doors. In our own fears of embarrassment, shame, mockery or just the struggle to surrender our will to God, all of which can make fulfilling the mission of being sent an obstacle, as long as Jesus is loved, He will in His own time appear through those locked doors. If we're willing to keep fighting the good fight in this life full of distractions and temptations, the day will come when we will close our eyes to this world and finally gaze upon the Face we have been seeking our whole life and He may say: "Peace be with you." And then what will follow is an undeniable assurance that this Peace will remain with us uninterrupted for all eternity. “Managing Uncertainty” !

RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT!

!READINGS!!

! First Reading - Acts of the Apostles 2:1-11 The disciples were afraid to show their faces in public after Jesus’ crucifixion. They huddled in upper rooms with great uncertainty about what to do. But the Spirit of God helped them overcome their confusions and fears by opening up a new chapter in their lives. They were given a new message, a new calling, and a new lease on life. Second Reading - 1 Corinthians 12:3b-7, 12-13

The work of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s life is essentially the work of God. Father, Son, and Spirit are one. The courage God gave Jesus is available to us because the same God, the one true God, works in all people of faith. We might manage our uncertainties as Jesus did, by trusting in the divine presence within us. Gospel - John 20:19-23

The disciples’ uncertainty left them essentially powerless to undertake the mission Christ had given them. But there was a solution. The gift of the Holy Spirit gave them both the assurance and the confidence to go out into the world to spread the gospel to all they encountered. Biblical history reveals that they were faithful in fulfilling their calling.

THE GIFT OF MUSIC…MAHALO

For over a year and a half, our parish musicians and choir member prayed and searched for an affordable piano to replace the upright piano that has served our community for over two decades.

Two days before Mother’s Day, a parishioner called our parish office and said he had a baby grand piano to donate to the church. In less than 48 hours, this beautiful, priceless gift was delivered to our parish as a donation from Bob Marzo and the Ballard Family Moanalua Mortuary.

Our parish families have been so marvelously touched by this unfathomable gift and the miraculous work of God. On May 7, the baby grand piano was dedicated to our Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the church in honor and memory of all mothers, living and deceased.

SECOND COLLECTION - BUILDING FUND Our next Building Fund Collection will be on May 29th. We thank you for your generous gifts to help in the Maintenance and upkeep of the church building. Some of the projects in the works include stained glass in the panels in the steeple, painting of the church and ways to cool our church more efficiently.

PARDON THE INCONVENIENCE

Double glass doors are being added to the side of the courtyard to make a new entrance for the office to make us more accessible to you. There is a lot of dust and a lot of noise. Please pardon the inconvenience as we make your church more user friendly.

2nd COLLECTION THIS WEEKEND, MAY 14-15

Through Internet, social networks, television, radio, and print, the

Catholic Communication Campaign (CCC) helps the Church spread the Gospel message through the media locally and nationally. Half of all donations to the CCC collected in your diocese stay in your diocese to support your local communications needs, such as radio and television programming and diocesan publications. The Catholic Communication Campaign helps us to grow in faith, worship, and witness. Please be generous when asked to give. Mahalo!

YOUTH&&&YOUNG&ADULT&MINISTRY&ANNOUNCEMENTS&

Are you between the ages of 18 – 39, in college, married or single and wish to grow more in your faith? The Sts. Peter & Paul Young Adult Ministry cordially invites you to the Young Adult Community which meets Sundays at 7:00 p.m. after the 6:00 p.m. Mass. !!

JOIN US FOR FAMILY MASS

Family Mass is at 9:00 a.m. During the Family Mass, the homily is addressed to families and to the children, giving them a better understanding of the Scripture readings. The children read Scripture that is from a Children's Lectionary. They are similar to the readings found in the Breaking Bread, but in simpler language.

Our next Family Mass will be on May 22nd at 9:00 a.m.

There is dismissal for Children's Liturgy of the Word at the 9:00 a.m. Mass on the other Sundays. Father will invite the children forward for a blessing. The children proceed to the reception area where a church like atmosphere is provided for them to hear the Word of God through prayers, song and readings that they are able to better understand and learn how to be disciples of Jesus. Children will rejoin their families at the Preparation of the Gifts (Offertory).

Sts. Peter and Paul’s Faith Formation Ministry will continue during the summer with weekly Children’s Liturgy Of The Word at the 9 a.m. Mass.

Father will invite the children forward for a blessing. Children will rejoin their families at the Preparation of the Gifts (Offertory).

Because of our Church families’ personal summer schedule, Family Mass will resume when our Faith Formation classes begin in September.

Faith Formation Classes, grades 1 through 7, ends on May 29. A party celebrating our faith filled year will follow the 11 a.m. Mass. Everyone is invited for ice cream, popcorn, fun foods, and a slideshow capturing our year together. Faith Formation classes will begin again on Sunday, September 11. Registration forms for Faith Formation Ministry, grades 1 through 7, are at the back of the church. Please mail in forms to the church office or bring them on the first day that classes begin. All new students must have a duplicate copy of their baptism certificate upon registration.

Sts. Peter and Paul Church is offering a six-day Vacation Bible School for all elementary through middle school children regardless of religious or parish affiliation. It will be conducted on July 11 through July 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with snacks and lunch included. There will be no fee charged for the faith-filled program. Registration forms are at the back of the church. Mail your forms to the church office or give them to Iwalani White or Yvonne Toma on Sundays at the Fellowship table.
