It’s hard to believe that Penn Windows has been around since 1948! One of the millions of post World War II businesses to open its doors, Penn Windows (at that time – Penn Aluminum Construction Co.) thrived and grew, eventually building the store and warehouse in 1951 that we’re still in today. Back then they were selling aluminum siding, windows, storm doors and awnings, as well as steel doors. Al Beyer and his brother Stan ran the company through the mid 1990’s. We purchased the company’s assets in 1999 from Al’s estate. This year, 2018, marks the 70th year of business for this Lehigh Valley

institution. We’ve updated and streamlined our offerings, selling vinyl replacement windows, high-end fiberglass and steel entry doors, storm doors, as well as blinds, shades and shutters through our sister company, Richards Window Fashions. My father and I are looking forward to many, many more years to come.

Celebrating our 70 years in business, we’re raffling off $1,948 to any customer who purchases between Jan. 1st and our Open House on September 27, 2018. Any purchase from either company qualifies. You do not need to be present to win (but we sure hope you are!). This year’s Open House will be even bigger and better – featuring some 1948 surprises, more seating in the warehouse and live music.

Andy’s Five Year Anniversary!We want to congratulate Andy Scott on surviving 5 years on our staff! In this day and age, 5 years is a very long time to work for any company! The unique situation of working for a small family business and being responsible for many additional little things (like taking pictures of projects and sometimes helping an installer set a heavy door or window unit) only adds to our sincere appreciation of his efforts! Andy has excelled at window and door sales, adding blind and shade sales in 2017 with great success. Andy is dedicated to the longevity of Penn Windows and Richards Window Fashions and is an indispensable team member as well as a part of our family. We hope he’ll stay with us for AT LEAST another 5 years!

You do not have to send anything in to activate any warranty for our products. Our services warranties are also online.

Spring is here! Don’t wait to order your windows and door folks – we’re currently at 8-10 weeks for installation! And remember, if we’re installing windows, you need to cut back shrubbery and trees around your house. Our installers will be as careful as possible, but they need room to work and clean up the job site. Also, please be aware of any bee or wasp issues around your home. We want our installers, as well as your children and pets, to stay

safe.

What a winter! I’m sure we’re all ready for a beautiful spring and even nicer summer. Lots to look forward to on this, our 70th year of business. First of all, I hope to see you all at this year’s Open House on Thursday, September 27th. The Open House has grown every year, so this year we go straight through the building into the warehouse to accommodate more guests and live music. Don’t miss this great event with fantastic food, prizes and hard cider! Look for more information throughout the year.

Baked Turkey Meatballs

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil (or

parchment) sprayed with vegetable oil. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients.

Mix well with your hands. Form mixture into golf ball or walnut-sized balls and

place them on the baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes, turning once, or until

golden brown. Makes 24 small meatballs. Serve on spaghetti, baked squash, or

on rice with marinara sauce. Or use as an appetizer with a dipping sauce.

1 cup dry bread crumbs

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes

3-5 dashes of Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

1 pound lean ground turkey

1 small yellow onion, finely diced

2 garlic cloves, minced

2 cups finely chopped fresh spinach

1 egg
