Review . Valentine Village

#1

Event descriptionValentine Village, a simple idea as the theme. We planned to organize the one and only “valentine theme” event in George Town. As

CNY is around the corner and most of the people will be focus on the CNY instead of the Valentine.

Hence from this aspect we intend to create a romance + bromance environment to the youths to play around during this romance

festival.

Opt to Adopt . Kung Fu Night

#1 Opt to Adopt

Organize by HCC.

Strays are animals that have got lost or separated

from its owner or that have no owner.

According to The World Health Organization

(WHO), there are more than 200 million stray dogs

worldwide estimated. Stray dogs are seen through

garbage on the street looking for food, where

people would choose to ignore them. Most of the

people do not care about where the strays go, as

long as the strays are out of their sight.

Most people have a perception that strays are a

nuisance. But these are actual living feeling beings

that lead incredibly brutal and painful lives. And it’s

largely because of things that we humans have

done. Most stray dogs were thrown away by their

owners, born on the streets, or simply got lost.

Practically all of them ended up starving to death

or dying of untreated injury or disease. They did

not create their situation, but they have to live with

it — or as is more often the case, die with it.

As animal shelters may play a part of

controlling the population of strays, many

people still prefer getting a pet from pet

stores rather than adopting from a shelter.

Strays are perceived as ill, gloomy and badly

behaved. While some strays do fit those

descriptions, people do not realize that most

strays are in just as in good condition as those

dogs sold in stores.

As Mahatma Gandhi once said – the

greatness of a nation can be judged by the

way its animals are treated, it is essential that

our community address the problem of over-

population of strays. Strays should be treated

with respect and granted the same equality

and protection from the society.

Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM)’s Kung Fu Club was

established on 27th January 1976. Its

accomplishments can be credited to competency

of its members in martial arts as well as its highly

regarded status in the campus community. Most of

all, it is due to the sheer determination and

undying spirit of its members, that has been

passed on from generation to generation.

Our main objective is to spread the spirit of

martial arts and traditional culture in addition to

promoting unity and racial integration. We also

intend to inspire youths to learn martial arts as a

means to strengthen the body and mind,

developing individuals with strong principles and

discipline. Our efforts benefit the campus

community regardless of colour or creed.

#2 Kung Fu Night

Organize by USM.

Malam Kung Fu (MKF), the biggest annual

event of USM Kung Fu Club, is also the ultimate

night where its doors are open for all to witness

the most spirited display of Chinese Martial Arts

and Culture. It is the platform for our members

to showcase their skills that has been

painstakingly and diligently honed over the past

years.

For 37 years, this project has received very

good reviews from both within and outside the

campus, garnering support from Penang island

to the Malaysian peninsula, including

communities from various campuses nationwide

(USM Kubang Kerian, USM Nibong Tebal,

Universiti Utara Malaysia, Multimedia University

of Cyberjaya & Malacca, UTAR, etc.)..
