Ramps can be used in emergency situations to judge any breed. In an emer-gency situation, where use of a ramp is not included in the premium list, an exhibi-tor has the option of withdrawing their entry and receiving a refund. For the judging of juniors the ramp may be used at the discretion of the judge for the ramp optional breeds.

No pictures or video of any kind will be taken by anyone of the official photographers of the dogs, at the time they are taking photos at the clubs officials photo area. Any Photography bill not paid in full after 60 days of the event billing will considered delinquent and the National Specialty Chair will be notified. Unpaid invoices may affect your membership and ability to enter Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of America, Inc. events. No one will be allowed to take photographs behind our photographers.

GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP ● POINTS Will be awarded at the judge’s discretion to: Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex to best of Breed, Select Dog, Select Bitch according to AKC guidelines.

NEW TITLE ROSETTES Those exhibitors competing a suffix title at the show and who desire recognition at the event may claim a New Title Rosette ringside on the day of competition. Any exhibitor requesting a Rosette should be prepared to validate their entitlement. No Rosette will be mailed. Those exhibitors completing a prefix title (example: CH. GCH, OTCH, POC, RACH, CT, HC, MACH, PACH, AGCH) and who desire recognition at the event should make arrangements to attend the PWCCA banquet on Saturday evening or send a representative to claim the New Champion Rosette. Any exhibitor requesting such recognition should be prepared to validate their entitlement. No Rosettes will be present prior to the PWCCA banquet, and no Rosettes will be mailed. Please see the RSVP page to make banquet reservations. NOTE At the National Specialty, the dogs designated Reserve Winners Dog and Reserve Winners Bitch will be Awarded the three-point major, provided the number of dogs competing in the regular classes of the Reserve Winner’s sex total at least twice the number required for a five point major in the region in which the event is held.

CLASS ELIGIBILITY Bred by Exhibitor (BBE)

• All dogs entered in the Bred-by-Exhibitor Class must be individually registered with

the AKC.

• The person handling the dog must be a breeder of record of the dog and an owner of

record of the dog.

• To exhibit in this class, family members must be a breeder and owner of record.

Effective January 1, 2010, Chapter 11, Section 1 of the AKC Rule Book: No dog shall be exhibited in a licensed or member dog show, except for dogs entered in the Miscellaneous Class unless it is either individually registered in the AKC Stud Book, or individually registered with a foreign registry organization pedigrees are accepted for AKC registration. CLASSIFICATION & ELIGIBILITY

NON REGULAR – INVOLVING SINGLE DOG CLASSES (The Winners of these classes, of otherwise undefeated, will compete for Best of Breed.) Veteran Class A class for dogs and a class for bitches 8 (eight) years of age & under 10 year older as of the date of the show. A class for dogs and a class for bitches 10 (ten) years of age & under 12(twelve) years of age. A Class for dogs and a class for Bitches 12 (twelve) years of age and over. Chapter 11, Section 8 of the “Rules Applying to Dog Shows” provides that castrated dogs and spayed bitches may be entered in Veteran Classes at a Specialty that does not offer classes beyond Best of Breed. * Only First Place will be awarded in the Veterans & Veteran Bitches Classes.

Herding Titled Classes A class for dogs and a class for bitches for any Pembroke Welsh Corgi over 6 months of age that has acquired an AKC herding title of record is eligible for this class. Neutered dogs & spayed bitches may not compete. * Only First Place will be awarded in the Herding Titled Dog & Herding Bitch classes.

NON-REGULAR – INVOLVING MULTIPLE DOG CLASSES (for dogs & bitches) The Winners of these classes will NOT be eligible to compete for Best of Breed,

however they will be eligible to compete in the Breeders Competition.

Stud Dog Class For dogs with two of their Get. Stud Dogs must be entered in the Stud Dog Class and must be shown in the ring with their Get. Owner of the Stud Dog need not necessarily be the owner of the Get. While the merits of the Stud Dog are not to be considered in the placement of the entry the Stud Dog must be examined to determine if it has a condition that would require its disqualification or excusal under Dog Show Rules, AKC policy or the standard of the breed. Get must be entered in a Regular Class, Best of Breed or another Non-Regular class. Brood Bitch Class For Brood Bitches with two of their Produce. Brood Bitches must be entered in the Brood Bitch Class and must be shown in the ring with theory Produce. Owner of the Brood Bitch need not necessarily be the owner of the Produce. While the merits of the Brood Bitch are not to be considered in the placement of the entry the Brood Bitch must be examined to determine if it has a condition that would require its disqualification or excusal und Dog show Rules, AKC policy or the standard of the breed. Produce must be entered in a Regular Class, Best of Breed or another Non-Regular Class. NOTE: As the judge’s decision in the Stud Dog and Brood Bitch Classes will be based on the merits of more than one dog or bitch, not one of the dogs or bitches making up the entry judged first in the class will be eligible to compete for the Best of Breed by virtue of having won these classes. Chapter 11, Section 8 of the “Rules Applying to Dog Shows” provides that “a castrated male may be entered as a Stud Dog in the Stud Dog Class and a spayed bitch may be entered as a Brood Bitch in the Brood Bitch

The calendar for this class will be November 1 – October 31 of the following year. All juniors meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the Master class and may change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame for that year has passed all participants return to the Open Class to compete for the following year.

Junior Handlers who win a third Novice Class with competition present or a first place in Novice without competition leading to a Best Junior award with competition would count as one win towards moving to Open, after the closing of entries for a show, ARE REQUIRED TO TRANSFER their entry form the Novice Class to the Open Class. COVID POLICY In Response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and continual changes to guidelines and requirements, the PWCCA and all event facilities will follow AKC, City/County/and State Guidelines and/or requirements in place at the time of the National Specialty. For the health and safety of all attendees, the PWCCA is requesting that everyone in attendance at the 2021 National Specialty events be fully vaccinated or test negative within 7 days prior to their first arrival on site. In addition, all attendees may also be asked to sign a COVID-19 Waiver upon arrival. Reserved Grooming: 5’ x 8’ space with electric. Limit 2 spaces per exhibitor, (must have an entry of 3 or more to purchase 2 spaces) $50.00 per space. Day Grooming: Unreserved, first come first served. No charge. NO ELECTRIC. All equipment & dogs must be removed from the Day Grooming area by 6:00PM each day. By entering this show, exhibitors agree to follow all direction of the assistants charged with arranging and maintaining safe and orderly conditions including firmly securing all cords to prevent tripping. All spaces with electric have access to shared outlets that are meant for single dryer use only. If you overload your outlet and blow a fuse, the staff at Founders Inn will reset your plug, HOWEVER it may significantly impact your timing to get your dog groomed. Those with high force heat dryers, please bring and use a power strip with breaker. NO dogs may be left in the center overnight.

The Genetics and Health Committee along with the PWCCA Charitable Trust are pleased to host a health clinic during our National Specialty. Dr. Nate Craddock from Blue Ridge Imaging will be onsite Tuesday, 10/5 for ap-pointments. If we have over 30 bookings, he will take also take appointments on Wednesday, 10/6. Blue Ridge Imaging is a mobile vet clinic specializing in imag-ing, or OFA x-rays, without anesthesia. The PWCCA Charitable Trust has gener-ously offered $25.00 towards each hip x-ray. Scheduling will start on Tuesday at 8:00 am, with appointments every 15 minutes (with a 45 minute lunch break) until 5 pm if necessary. If we fill, then appointments will begin at 8:00 am on Wednes-day as needed. The workshop, presented by the Judge’s Education Committee, will begin promptly at 8:00AM. After the classroom seminar, participants will adjourn to the ring side reserved seating area to watch the completion of Bitch judging. Expert mentoring will be available. The hands on portion will take place in the ring, 30 minutes following the completion of bitch judging. This portion will provide an opportunity to examine a variety of Pembrokes' and evaluate movement. Certificates of attendance will be provided upon completion of both portions of the program. Ring side mentoring will be available all days of judging during the National Specialty.

The Four-to-Six Month Beginner Puppy competition shall be for dogs that are four months of age and over but under six months on the day of the event. Classes will not be divided by sex in this competition. Classes will be offered for Breeds & Varieties and divided into Groups as described in Chapter 3, Section 1 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows and the Miscellaneous Class Breeds as listed in Chapter 3, Section 23. The Miscellaneous Class competition will be equivalent of Group Competition and the winner will be eligible to compete in Best Four-to-Six Month Puppy in Show. The FSS Competition will be the equivalent of Group Competition and the winner will be eligible to compete in Best Four-to-Six Month Puppy in Show.

• AKC registration number or an AKC litter number will be required for entries of an AKC recognized breed as listed in Chapter 3, Section 1 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows.

• A foreign-born dog may enter this class if they are registered in the country of origin.

• FSS Number of FSS Registered Litter number will be required for Miscellaneous and FSS Breed entries.

• All entrants are to be vaccinated (including rabies) in accordance with their veterinarian’s protocol.

• Professional handlers are not permitted to exhibit in this class. Dogs that are owned or co-owned by a professional handler may compete in this class but must be handled by a non-professional handler. Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs or has belonged to a professional handlers’ organization distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay within the last five years. Dogs may not be exhibited by current assistants and household members of a professional handler.

• Exhibitors should open their dog’s mouth for reexamination. If the judge finds it necessary to open the mouth they should disinfect their hands prior to examining other dogs.

• Male puppies without 2 fully descended testicles need not be disqualified or excused but the judge’s book must describe the condition and Certificate of merit points may be withheld.

• Dogs with breed standard disqualifications should not be excused but may not receive placements. However, dogs with age related disqualifications such as color (as related to age), height, teeth etc. are permitted to receive awards in the 4-6 Month Beginner Puppy classes.

• Dogs must be excused for attacking a person or other dogs.

• No dog is to be judged if it is brought into the ring bandaged, taped, glued or stitched anywhere in-cluding ears and tail. These dogs must be excused from judging but, at the judge’s discretion, may return to be judged after the tape or bandage is removed.

• Dealing with Misconduct will be applicable to any person and dog entered at the competition. All applicable rules found in Rules to Dog Shows will govern the conduct of this competition unless these regulations state otherwise.

SSH 4-6 Months Beginner Puppy Competition

Stud Dog and Brood Bitch class will be non-regular classes, held under the rules for them by AKC and simply moved in the schedule to allow them to be part of the Breeders Competition. Entries of the Stud Dog or Brood Bitch will be made to the show superintendent/show secretary on a regular entry form. The registered names and the classes that both offspring are entered in at this event must be handed in writing to the steward as they enter the ring. The judge will be licensed by AKC.

For two (2) Offspring of the same sire out of different dams. Offspring need not be owned by the same person(s), and even though the common parent is not being shown, it is that sire who is the “entry” for the class. The registered names and the classes that both offspring are entered in at this event must be handed in writing to the steward as they enter the ring. Both offspring must be entered in a Regular Class, Best of Breed, or a Non-Regular Conformation Class. Half-Sibling (Dam) Breeder’s Class. Both offspring must be entered in a Regular Class, Best of Breed, or a Non-Regular Conformation Class. Bred-by-Exhibitor Showcase: For two dogs of either gender, bred and owned by the same person(s). A breeder who is also an owner of record must handle the first dog and will be the “entrant” along with their kennel name. The other dog may be handled by anyone. The registered names and the classes that both dogs are entered in at this event must be handed in writing to the steward as they enter the ring. All dogs must be entered in a Regular Class, Best of Breed, or a Non-Regular Conformation Class. Entries for the three special attraction classes will be made on the special attraction entry form and mailed with fees to the show superintendent/show secretary as well. After all five classes have been completed, the winners of each class will compete for Best in Breeder’s Competition. Because of this, animals cannot be exhibited in more than one of the five classes. Awards ● First Place only will be selected in each of the five classes and will received $100.00 in cash and a rosette. Best in Breeder’s Competition will receive a beautifully framed 28” x 23” original watercolor of a tri-color Pembroke Welsh Corgi and her three Puppies, by our beloved Art Smith.

ENTRY FEES shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of Show Committee. If because of riots, civil disturbances or other acts beyond the control of the management it is impossible to open or to complete the show, no refund of entry fee will be made. Extreme weather conditions, such as, but not limited to snow storms, hurricanes, lightning, extreme heat, must be considered for the health and safety of the dogs, exhibitors and spectators. The well-being of dogs, exhibitors and specta-tors is of paramount importance and, in the event it is necessary to cancel or stop the show before completion, no refund of entry fee will be made. AGREEMENT I (we) agree that the club holding this event has the right to refuse this entry for cause which the club shall deem sufficient. In consideration of the acceptance of this entry and of the holding of this event and of the opportunity to have the dog judged and to win prizes, ribbons, or trophies, I (we) agree to hold the AKC, the event-giving club, their members, directors, governors, officers, agents, superintendents or event secretary and the owner and/or lessor of the premises and any provider of services that are necessary to hold this event and any employees or volunteers of the aforementioned parties, and any AKC approved judge, judging at this event, harmless from any claim for loss or injury which may be alleged to have been caused directly or indirectly to any person or thing by the act of this dog while in or about the event premises or grounds or near any entrance thereto, and I (we) personally assume all responsibility and liability for any such claim; and I (we) further agree to hold the aforementioned parties harmless from any claim for loss, injury or damage to this dog. INSTRUCTIONS

1. (Variety) if you are entering a dog of breed in which there are varieties for show purposes, please designate the partic-ular variety you are entering, i.e., Cocker Spaniel (solid color black, ASCOB, parti-color), Beagles (not exceeding 13 in., over 13 in. but not exceeding 15 in.), Dachshunds (longhaired, smooth, wirehaired), Collies (rough, smooth), Bull Terriers (colored, white), Manchester Terriers (standard, toy), Chihuahuas (smooth coat, long coat), English Toy Spaniels (King Charles and Ruby, Blenheim and Prince Charles), Poodles (toy, miniature, standard).

2. The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed competition: Dogs that are Champions of Record and dogs which, according to their owners’ records, have completed the requirements for a championship, but whose championships are unconfirmed. The showing of unconfirmed Champions in Best of Breed competition is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the dog completed the requirements for a championship.

3. (Event Class) Consult the classification in this premium list. If the event class in which you are entering your dog is divided, then, in addition to designating the class, specify the particular division of the class in which you are entering your dog, i.e., age division, color division, weight division.

4. A dog must be entered in the name of the person who actually owned it at the time entries for an event closed. If a registered dog has been acquired by a new owner it must be entered in the name of its new owner in any event for which entries closed after the date of acquirement, regardless of whether the new owner has received the registration certifi-cate indicating that the dog is recorded in his name. State on entry form whether transfer application has been mailed to the AKC. (For complete rules, refer to Chapter 11, Section 3.)

AGREEMENT I (we) agree that the club holding this event has the right to refuse this entry for cause which the club shall deem sufficient. In consideration of the acceptance of this entry and of the holding of this event and of the opportunity to have the dog judged and to win prizes, ribbons, or trophies, I (we) agree to hold the AKC, the event-giving club, their members, directors, governors, officers, agents, superintendents or event secretary and the owner and/or lessor of the premises and any provider of services that are necessary to hold this event and any employees or volunteers of the aforementioned parties, and any AKC approved judge, judging at this event, harmless from any claim for loss or injury which may be alleged to have been caused directly or indirectly to any person or thing by the act of this dog while in or about the event premises or grounds or near any entrance thereto, and I (we) personally assume all responsibility and liability for any such claim; and I (we) further agree to hold the aforementioned parties harmless from any claim for loss, injury or damage to this dog. INSTRUCTIONS

1. (Variety) if you are entering a dog of breed in which there are varieties for show purposes, please designate the partic-ular variety you are entering, i.e., Cocker Spaniel (solid color black, ASCOB, parti-color), Beagles (not exceeding 13 in., over 13 in. but not exceeding 15 in.), Dachshunds (longhaired, smooth, wirehaired), Collies (rough, smooth), Bull Terriers (colored, white), Manchester Terriers (standard, toy), Chihuahuas (smooth coat, long coat), English Toy Spaniels (King Charles and Ruby, Blenheim and Prince Charles), Poodles (toy, miniature, standard).

2. The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed competition: Dogs that are Champions of Record and dogs which, according to their owners’ records, have completed the requirements for a championship, but whose championships are unconfirmed. The showing of unconfirmed Champions in Best of Breed competition is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the dog completed the requirements for a championship.

3. (Event Class) Consult the classification in this premium list. If the event class in which you are entering your dog is divided, then, in addition to designating the class, specify the particular division of the class in which you are entering your dog, i.e., age division, color division, weight division.

4. A dog must be entered in the name of the person who actually owned it at the time entries for an event closed. If a registered dog has been acquired by a new owner it must be entered in the name of its new owner in any event for which entries closed after the date of acquirement, regardless of whether the new owner has received the registration certifi-cate indicating that the dog is recorded in his name. State on entry form whether transfer application has been mailed to the AKC. (For complete rules, refer to Chapter 11, Section 3.)
