Go All Blacks.NO HOT EATIES next week due to CROSS COUNTRY Fiefia Night Our Pasifika group will be performing at the Fiefia night on Thursday 22 nd August at the rec centre. A note is coming home about this for those participating. All others welcome. We will along with other schools be presenting achievement awards for those Pasifika students who are excelling at school. Please make sure you check the day and date as there was a little confusion due to one of my notes being wrong. North Otago (Hui Ako)Kaupapa Maori Festival This is being held on Tuesday 27 th August at the Opera House. Our Kapahaka group will be performing in the morning session. With a 9.30 start we should be on stage about 9.50 ish. Contract negotiations Principals have been meeting this week to discuss the latest offer from the Government about our contracts. Voting will happen over the weekend. Our thanks to those who supported us. Keeping our selves safe. This unit of teaching is winding up. Make sure you discuss with children what they have learned. Cross country at the Oamaru Race Course This is scheduled for Tuesday 20th next week. We will be having an early lunch for the seniors. NO Hot Eaties. Seniors leave for the racecourse 12.00 p.m. Races begin with year 6 at 12.30 Juniors leave school at 1.00 p.m. Junior races begin 1.25 p.m. Parents very welcome to come and cheer children on. Our top year 4,5,6 children will enter the North Otago competition a few weeks later. See you there. Missing Shoes Last week a pair of black and white Adidas shoes disappeared from the decks outside rooms 6,7,8,9. If your child mistakenly bought the wrong shoes home please send them back to school. A special pair of shoes given to a child by an uncle. Your support is appreciated. Have a good weekend Go the All blacks ICONZ4girlz is a weekly life development programme, growing girls for good! We enjoy doing games, crafts, devotions and badges together. IFG is hosted by Weston Community Church. We meet on Tuesdays from 4-5:30pm at the Weston Church hall. Fees are $40 per term. Girls wear a uniform of a bright green or pur- ple t-shirt. We have been running this programme in Oamaru for three years and are looking for some more fantastic girls to join our programme. So give it a try! Vegetables Growing your own vegetables is easy and fun. Kids are often more willing to eat vegies if they’ve grown them

themselves. Just a few recyclable containers will

help to get you started. Cut the top off a plastic milk bottle and it becomes a pot.

Recyclable containers that make great plant pots are: Tin cans, milk bottles, buckets,

yogurt pottles Make some drainage holes in the bottom, place

some small stones over the holes, fill with rich soil ready to plant!

Oceans Programme Oceans is a peer support group programme that provides an opportunity for children who are missing someone in their lives to

extremely supportive of each other.
