Learning Objectives Of Trail

We created this trail to:1. Educate the public about water conservation.2. How to sustain the biodiversity.3. To raise awareness of the events happening in

Bishan Park that encourages community bonding.4. To learn more about the impact of the

environment of Bishan park.5. To enlighten the public to be more conscious of

the park’s environment

Yesteryears of Bishan Park• What was the recreation like in the old Kallang River?• People who frequent there did not have much space to

jog, or run, there wasn’t a lot of freedom as there used to be railings warding people away from the canal, and thus restricting the area that could actually be used for running or jogging.

• As for fishing, the uncles and aunties are not able to get near to the water, causing some troubles for them to fish.

• Many children grew a curiosity about the canal, and often venture in, risking accidents.

What is difference between the 2 pictures ?

The canal on the right is more natural looking and allows biodiversity to thrive, and is aesthetically pleasing; the larger open spaces allows for more community bonding .The canal on the left generally serves as a water channel.
