Making it easier to talk withyour children in care about the
addiction problem of theirmother or father
: Why and how?
• One of Belgian need assessment
conclusions
• Good practice in Switzerland (ispa.ch) and
Scotland (alcohol-focus-scotland.org.uk)
• We made specific adaptations
– focus on resilience
– deleting parts expanding on addiction
treatment of mother
Test and Dissemination
• Assessed attractive and easy to read
• Reference to illegal drugs seemed to be a
threshold though
• In test period (foreseen # 250 but
distributed +700)
• Nationwide dissemination with Pleegzorg
(Fostercare) and VAD (Alco & Drugs) in 2011
