“The Peer Trainer course has helped me become so much more positive.” (Young person)

BenefitsThere are many benefits when young people become Peer Trainers that impact on their academic and social development.

What’s in this course? This 2 day Peer Trainer programme uses a challenge framework. The Peer Trainers are encouraged to meet several challenges during the course. The young people are given regular opportunities to reflect on their learning as well as understanding the roles and responsibilities of a Peer Trainer. The young people give and receive constructive feedback as a developmental tool. This programme is interactive and collaborative and is full of team building activities and energisers.

About UFA Peer Trainer Training UFA Peer Trainer Training is a new and innovative course which enables young people to train their peers as Peer Tutors. This two day course was co-developed with a small group of young people in London who had worked previously as Student Leaders. The course is designed as an interactive experience to allow young people to learn more about themselves as a learner, become an effective team player and leader to help them to become Peer Trainers.

• Improved attitudes towards school.• Improved communication skills.• Improved leadership qualities.• Increased self confidence.• Improved attainment.• A greater interest to get involved in more leadership roles in school and beyond. • Deeper understanding of learning processes and individual learner needs.

In addition, other young people can look up to the Peer Trainers as positive role models which encourages and inspires other young people to take on leadership roles as a result.
