Peebles Show Rules and Regulations

1. All entries must comply with Orders and Regulations Under Diseases of Animal

Acts current at the time of the Show 2. All Stock must be free of infectious and contagious disease for two months previous to

the date for the show. 3. The Show is open to all comers, except where otherwise specified. 4. All stock/entries must be owned by the Exhibitor, not later than date of entry. 5. All stock to be shown shall be entered with the Secretary, not later than the closing

date. Membership and Entry Money must be paid no later than Show Day.

6. All Stock must be on the showfield before 9am, and no Stock will be allowed to leave the showfield before 3.30pm without a pass from the secretary.

7. All Exhibitor Numbers (except sheep classes), must be prominently displayed until the close of the show, or prizes will be withheld.

8. Exhibitors who have entered Stock and fail to exhibit shall forfeit the Entry money of the same.

9. Bulls over one year old must be secured by a ring or screw in the nose, and a chain or rope attached.

10. All Cattle must be tied in their allotted stalls by 10am, and must not leave until after the Parade, except for judging.

11. All Cattle and Horses must be accompanied by the relevant passport. 12. All cattle (including calves) coming to the Show must come from a Scottish

holding with a negative herd status for BVD, from a herd that is fully accredited free of BVD or they must all be individually tested free of virus (antigen) whether or not they have been vaccinated, in accordance with CHeCS rules. Evidence of such must accompany the entry form.

13. Any exhibitor bringing cattle to the show from out with Scotland must, in the 60 days prior to the show, have obtained a negative TB result on all Cattle to be exhibited.

14. Scrapie Monitoring scheme – No facilities will be provided for sheep from Scrapie Monitored Negative Flocks

15. All female sheep must be non-pregnant(empty), have not lambed within 30 days, prior to entry to the show and not subject to procedures which change the seasonal breeding pattern.

16. All Sheep from MV accredited flocks must provide a copy of their Health Declaration prior to their animals being unloaded. This will be retained by the society.

17. All Horses must be accompanied by their passport, and Horse flu vaccinations must be up to date.

18. The judge will only award a prize, if they deem the Stock of sufficient merit, especially if only one lot competes for the prize.

19. First and Second prize animals to be placed before the judge for championships as necessary.

20. In all cases and all matters the judges’ decision is final. 21. The show committee reserve the power to appoint a judge in the absence of the judge

officially stated. 22. Dogs must have a suitable collar and lead attached at all times. 23. The Society will not be responsible for any accident which may happen to Stock or

implements or exhibits at the show. 24. The Society will not be responsible for any injury to, or loss sustained by any stock or

exhibits sent to their show. 25. All trophies are the property of the Society, and tenable for one year only. Winners will

sign a receipt upon receiving them and be responsible for their safe return on or before the 31st July of the following year.

26. Protests must be lodged with the Secretary, in writing, on the day of the Show no later than 30 minutes following the judging of the relevant section and must be accompanied by a deposit of a sum equivalent to four times the cost of Membership of the Society current at the time. All parties lodging a protest must attend at the Show Committee Room at 4pm on the afternoon of the Show. All protests will then be considered and adjudicated upon by the President’s Committee and the relevant Show Stewards. The Rule will be literally and strictly enforced, and all entries are accepted only on the express condition that the Exhibitor binds himself or herself to accept the decision of the President’s Committee and the relevant Show Stewards as final and binding upon him or her. If a protest shall not be sustained the deposit shall be forfeited and go into the general funds of the Society.

James Currie Perpetual Trophy Awarded to the exhibitor with the most points over the Cattle, Clydesdale, Sheep and Fleece sections, in classes that are open to all members. Points are awarded as follows

A section championship – 5 points A reserve champion – 3 points A first prize – 4 points A second prize – 3 points A third prize – 2 points A fourth prize – 1point

In the event of a tie, most first prizes to count, section championships to count as two firsts.

TSR Showing Finals to be held at Ingliston Grand Slam 2019

TSR Showing Finals - This show is a qualifier for the 2019 TSR Showing Finals. Qualify and enter ANY of the Finals Central, East Anglia, North West, North East, South East, South, Wales & South West or Scottish. You Do Not have to be a TSR member to qualify or enter a final. The Rider/Handler qualifies and can enter any horse/pony in any number of Finals! TSR Riders Finals - 1st & 2nd riders qualify and will receive a qualification card in the ring. TSR In Hand Finals - The two highest placed Handlers with a TSR In Hand Card will qualify in any In Hand class. Handlers MUST have their cards signed in the ring by the judge/steward, cards are available FREE from the TSR website. RULES o All entries must report to steward/attending member of the class o EN1384. PAS015 or prefixed with ASTM or SEI are the minimum standard of hard hat allowed. Hats

must be worn at all times when mounted. o Exhibitors who are entered in two classes whose timings clash must choose which to attend as

classes will not be delayed after the final call for competitors and judging has commenced. It will be at the judge’s discretion to allow entry to a class once it has started.

239 RoR Tattersalls Scottish Show Series Thoroughbred mare or gelding, 4years old or over, any height. Riders must be 15 years or over on the 1st January of the calendar year holding the classes. Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, pelham or simple double bridle with a plain cavesson noseband. Horses should be plaited. The first three go forward to the championship at the Royal Highland Show 2020. In the event that the first three are already qualified, the qualification will go down the line to fourth. All entries MUST have current competition registration with the RoR and have RACED in GB. There will be a prize for the highest placed veteran 15 years or over. The class will be run under the rules of RoR. Horses to be ridden by the judge. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to time in force’ Competitors must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap. Side saddle & Concours d’ Elegance

classes will be held in Horse Ring 5 not before 13:30

290 CONCOURS d’ÉLÉGANCE Can be ridden side saddle or astride, SSA prizes will be awarded to Side saddle competitors. The sole criterion for this class is the elegance of the picture presented by horse and rider. Attention may be paid to the rider’s personal appearance but detailed inspection of rider or tack is not required. Fancy dress or period costume is not permitted. Competitors are required to walk, trot and canter. No individual show is required, but the Judge may ask groups of 3 or 4 riders to give short displays. A Special rosette will be awarded to the highest placed Adult Member and Junior Member of the SSA carrying their current Championship Points Cards. Competitors must wear a hat to current Safety Standard or above

A short break will allow for competitors to change for the following classes should they compete in both.

291 The Side Saddle Association Equitation Championships Open qualifying class Run under SSA Rules defined in the current Member’s Handbook. Open to SSA Members and Non-Members. Members carrying their current Championship Points Cards are eligible for SSA rosettes to 3rd Adult and 3rd Junior places and SSA Championship Points. Southernden Farm offers a rosette to the highest placed Member aged under 14 on 1st January of the current year. A rosette in memory of The Late Mr R Philpot is offered to the Adult Member and Manor Grange Stud Show Centre to the Junior Member, judged to be the best turned out. Competitors must wear a hat to current Safety Standard or above

292 Best Horse or Pony to be ridden side saddle

Open to horses and ponies 4 years old or over: conformation & manners will be taken into consideration; horses/ponies will not be stripped. A Special rosette will be awarded to the highest placed Adult and Junior Members of the SSA carrying their current Championship Points Cards. Competitors must wear a hat to current Safety Standard or above. The Highest placed coloured exhibit (who has not already qualified) receives a Special Rosette and qualifies for the Side Saddle Final at the CHAPS Championship Show. Open to any type of exhibit. Riders must be 16 or over. Riders/Owners need not be a member or their exhibit registered with CHAPS at the time of qualification, but in order to compete at the Championships, the Rider/Owner must be a showing member and their horse/pony registered with CHAPS before entering the final.
