PEDELTA has designed more than 500 road bridges worldwide, from small culverts to cable-stayed bridges. Materials for these designs include concrete, steel, composite, or other advanced materials such as stainless steel. Our expertise in this field has received international recognition. PEDELTA provides concept design, detailed design, checking, value engineering, and construction engineering of bridges as well as inspection works and retrofit of existing bridges.
The team of engineers at PEDELTA uses and continues to develop powerful software which allows us to create cost-efficient projects that are delivered on time and satisfy constructability and aesthetics concerns.

PEDELTA has developed the designs for more than 20 km (12,4 miles) of railways bridges, the majority of which (19 km-11,8 miles) were for High Speed Railway Lines (HSRL). These include the first two steel bridges for the HSRL connecting Madrid-Barcelona-France. Pedelta has also developed three full infrastructure projects for Spanish HSR sections.
PEDELTA has been invited to several international conferences and seminars to address topics related to the design of viaducts for HSR lines. The firm possesses specific expertise for HSR bridge design such as the ability to conduct dynamic analysis, rolling stock analysis and track-deck interaction.
Spain currently has the largest HSR network in Europe. They had more than 2200 km of service in 2010 and their HSR network is expected to reach 10.000 km in 2020. PEDELTA has played a significant role in many of Spain’s major lines such as Madrid-Bar-celona-French border, Madrid-Portugal, Madrid-Basque Country, Barcelona-Valencia and Madrid-Valencia, among others.

PEDELTA has participated in the design of various projects for light rail / metro bridges in Spain, India and Canada.
The expansion of urban light rail and other mass transit projects throughout the world has upgraded cities and reduced dependence on oil, which provides a sustainable mode of transportation in metropolitan areas.
Bridges for mass transit projects are typically located in urban areas where their design is frequently governed by environmental issues, aesthetic concerns, and construction constraints. Additionally, other technical aspects such as rail-structure interaction and vibration can affect bridge design.

Pedestrian bridges with small and medium spans offer the opportunity to explore new forms, new construction methods and employ advanced materials which pushes knowledge to the limit. For example, pedestrian bridges can be very light and slender structures.
The form, color and materials selected are crucial decisions for the appearance of the bridge. To meet these imaginative challenges, PEDELTA embraces an open and creative approach to engineering design, but this does not exclude more traditional visions and we retain an analytical approach.

PEDELTA has a relevant considerable experience with bridge inspections, assessment, load rating, rehabilitation, retrofit, seismic retrofit and widening of existing bridges.
PEDELTA has inspected more than 5580 bridges worldwide (vehicular, rail and light-rail) and has implemented bridge management systems at two concessionaries and to the city of Barcelona.PEDELTA provides structural assessment and load rating to ensure the safety and performance of existing bridges.
PEDELTA has developed several reliability assessments (probabilistic approach) to ensure and extend the life service of existing bridges, or to assess the bridges that support under heavy loads. In 1996 PEDELTA applied CFR laminates to reinforce a concrete bridge in Barcelona. Since then, more than 25 bridges have been reinforced by PEDELTA staff with this technique.
