THE WORLD OFDESIGN & BUSINESSToday, the business of Design is beyond just apparel or

accessories. From Photography and Films to Styling and

Make up, from Brand Communication to Fashion

Journalism and PR, from Set design to Interiors, from

Fashion Retail to Manufacturing, the Design and Lifestyle

industries have branched out into a number of allied

services and the need of the hour is to find talent and trained

manpower for all of these sectors.

Pearl Academy is a pioneer in the Indian market combining

online and face-to-face classtime in a structured manner

thus making learning more effective and engaging.

After carefully studying the requirements of the industry,

Pearl Academy realized that a handful of courses in the

fields of Design and Business are inadequate to address the

emerging needs of this vast industry. The very reason why Pearl Academy introduces 4 schools of creative learning.

Pearl Academys 4 schools of creative learning

These schools specialize in imparting a structured and

balanced combination of theory and practice in different

fields of design, creative and business arts.

So if you aspire to make your mark in the fields of Design

and Lifestyle Business, this is the right place to nurture

your dream. Equipped with sound knowledge of the

industry and practical and personal skills required to stand

apart from the crowd, you have the world waiting for you!

Creating fashion doesnt just entail a vivid imagination and instinct for creativity. It also involves many

decisions and myriad techniques, focused on a central idea. Pearl's Fashion Design course builds a strong

foundation in terms of design sense, conceptualisation, independent research, creative application and

    individual artistic expression.

Fashion design runs the gamut from eveningwear to sportswear, womenswear to menswear, and kidswear to

knitwear. Students are asked to choose their area of interest and sharpen their creative ideas. Students are

also introduced to various historic fashion and art movements as exemplars and how these influence

contemporary fashion. This is the very reason why fashion houses, designer labels, luxury brands, apparel

retail brands and ready-to-wear fashion industries seek our students.

It was only after my graduation when I started working in the field I felt something

amiss, which is when I was introduced to Styling for Interior. As a stylist I worked

with various magazines like Elle Decor, BBC Good Homes, Casaviva and also did

freelance shoots for Maxim and Femina. I have also styled brochures for various

stores and done up store and window displays. As a field I think Interior Styling is

an extremely upcoming field as more and more people are moving into builder

houses and semi-furnished rented apartments where there is a greater need for a

decorator to help do up the space than a full on designer.

The programme provides an overview of the major aspects of styling, so that you can alter the look of a

space without changing the structure of it. The programme comprising 3 trimesters (40 credits each)

aims to train stylists for the furnishing and interior designing industries to perform as part of a team to

style spaces or as individual entrepreneurs. Topics covered in the program include:

Styling of spaces for function and ambience

    Contemporary interior styles

Creating your own style through space visualization

Colour conceptualization to make colour work for you

    Material explorations

    Furniture & Artwork in interiors

    Guiding you in product selection

This programme is designed for students with an interest in sourcing and resourcing materials for use in

styling of homes. It aims to provide comprehensive understanding of developing a personal style through

visual communication and its application in the interiors and soft furnishings industry through classroom

lectures, practicals, market study and sourcing, lab work, assignments and design projects. The final

trimester consolidates and develops your ability to stylize and plan your own work through a Final

The Indian jewellery industry is growing and modernizing. The consumer and market place is changing. New

technologies are setting in fast, affecting and altering the production methods and design possibilities.

Jewellery product development does not simply involve aesthetic understanding, knowledge of jewellery

materials and making but also understanding the new age consumer, developing a right product for them and

reaching to them at the right time, place and manner. Harnessing all the available resources for developing a

successful jewellery product is a great challenge. The jewellery industry is in need of professionals with

higher level of understanding and additional individual qualities to be involved in the new product

development process. This post graduate course is aimed at equipping students with leveraging and directing

their existing knowledge base towards new jewellery product development.

The course is delivered in conjunction with Domus Academy, Milan. Students have an option of doing a 4

The course imparts retail business knowledge of fashion and lifestyle products as core offerings supported by

services and technology to create experiences in the dynamic retail landscape.

Retailing in India is one of the strongest pillars of the economy as it accounts for an estimated 35% of the

countrys GDP. The phenomenon further gathers momentum as consumers increase spending on the

discretionary goods (fashion products) other than needs and also as government relaxes FDI regulations.

This results in the mushrooming of retailers, both national and international, in a variety of formats

including e-tailing, creating a potential market for the skilled retail professionals.

The course bridges the gap by providing focused learning comprising theoretical concepts of fashion,

retailing, business strategy, marketing, buying and merchandising, etc. The candidate further develops as an

enabler by experiencing industry interface in the diverse areas of retail operations, merchandising and visual

    merchandising.

The course is delivered in conjunction with Domus Academy, Milan. Students have an option of doing a

module in Milan and get additional exposure to the international industry.
