Pearl for Moon: rules and rituals for wearing a Pearl Step 1 Please check from a competent astrologer whether or not Pearl suits you. Wearing a gemstone that does not suit you as per your astrological chart is not recommended. Gemstones bring changes in your natural energy fields and wearing a non suitable gemstone can be harmful. Only upon verification of the above, move to Step 2. Step 2 Buy a Pearl on a Monday during the Shukla Paksha (the ascending moon cycle). If you have problems purchasing a Pearl on Tuesday, then, purchase it on a Sunday or a Thursday. Pearl may also be purchased when the nakshatra (constellation) is Pushya, Rohini, Hasta or Shravana. Never buy a Pearl on a Saturday. Step 3 The ring should be set in silver and the Pearl mounted in open backed ring such that it can touch the finger that you wear on. The weight of the Pearl should be not be less than 2 rattikas. (1 Rattika = 0.9 carats). Try to get Pearls that are 4, 6 or 11 rattikas in weight. 7 and 8 rattikas should never be worn for Pearls. Step 4 Upon receiving the ring, decide on the day to wear it keeping in mind the rules given in Step 2. The ring should be worn at evening time when the moon is rising. Step 5 Sit on a white Asana. Keep the ring immersed in raw cow’s milk. Then wash it with Ganga – water or water kept in a copper pot overnight. After it has been washed, keep the ring on a white cloth on which a Moon Yantra (numerical yantra may be used) is drawn with white sandalwood paste or roli with some turmeric powder. Step 6 Offer flowers, incense to the yantra and the Pearl and chant the following mantra 108 times: "Aum Som Somaye Namah Aum" or "Om Namah Shivaya"
