Unresolved Conflict

Blocks God

“Whoever claims to love God yet hates a

brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does

not love their brother and sister, whom they

have seen, cannot love God, whom they

have not seen.”

1 John 4:20 NIV

Blocks Prayer

“Husbands, in the same way be considerate

as you live with your wives, and treat them

with respect as the weaker partner and as

heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so

that nothing will hinder your prayers.”

1 Peter 3:7 NIV

on you, live at peace with everyone.”

Romans 12:18 NIV

Make the first move

• ““Therefore, if you are offering your gift at

the altar and there remember that your

brother or sister has something against

you, leave your gift there in front of the

altar. First go and be reconciled to them;

then come and offer your gift.”

• Matthew 5:23-24

• Proverbs 13:10 NIV

Page 9: Peace Together

“Why do you look at the speck of

sawdust in your brother’s eye and

pay no attention to the plank in your

own eye? How can you say to your

brother, ‘Let me take the speck out

of your eye,’ when all the time there

is a plank in your own eye? You

hypocrite, first take the plank out of

your own eye, and then you will see

clearly to remove the speck from

your brother’s eye.”

Matthew 7:3-5 NIV

“We who are strong ought

to bear with the failings of

the weak and not to

please ourselves. Each of

us should please our

neighbors for their good,

to build them up.”

Focus on reconciliation

not resolution

• “All this is from God, who reconciled us to

himself through Christ and gave us the

ministry of reconciliation: that God was

reconciling the world to himself in Christ,

not counting people’s sins against them.

And he has committed to us the message

of reconciliation.”

• 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 NIV
