Access to Chincoteague Bay

Canoe or Kayak can exit to the bay from the channel by the house, at high tide only.

Tide clock on wall tells number of hours to high and low tide. Don’t get stuck!

Smuggler’s Cove boat slip is a few houses away, with access between the rope posts.

Smuggler’s boat slip is shallow and can be used for canoes and Kayaks but not large boats

Bay View Dining

View from windows is one of the best features -- enjoy!

To open blinds, use chain to open slats, then string to slide blinds open.

To open windows, unlock first before cranking the handle. If the handle doesn’t turn easily one of the locks is still closed. Do not force!

Jacuzzi, Decks, Outside shower

Upstairs: Careful of getting in and out and of children! Best to sit on edge of tub as enter. Unless adult present, leave Jacuzzi wall switch off and door closed.

Downstairs: Tub stopper closes by pressing down stopper front edge;

opens by pushing down back edge.

Outside shower available.


Eco-house --Solar Panels on house and garage roof 3.6KW system supplies large portion of yearly energy use!

Use Recycling Center on Deep Hole Road

Accomack County provides a recycling center on Deep Hole Road to receive household trash from 7 AM to 6 PM Wednesday - Monday and CLOSED on Tuesdays. You may recycle glass and plastic at this location. Cardboard recycling containers are also located at this site. The cardboard must be broken down flat before placing in the container. They have also included a scrap metal container.

Books and Games

Books -- feel free to use and leave behind for next people.

Games and children’s toys are in closets above the garage. Please replace to same location when you are finished.

Skylights & Ceiling Fans

Separate upstairs and downstairs thermostats, each with heat/cool switch.

When outside temps are comfortable, recommend thermostats off, windows and skylights open, and ceiling fans on. Please close windows and skylights during rain, and on departure!

In summer leave fireplace off, and in winter use thermostat by master bedroom.

Doors & Windows

Safety locks : unlock while pushing up on door handle, then open door by pressing down on handle.

Make sure windows are unlocked before opening

Kitchen Bar

Circuit breakers in master bedroom closet control all appliances.

Refrigerator breaker marked by red dot.

Turn off refrigerator breaker when you leave.

Make sure stove is off when you leave.

Marsh & Deer

Walk gently on marsh.

Use rubber boots.

Unless there is a good breeze, protect yourself from mosquitos.

Avoid stepping into the inlet, or gut, since you would sink!

Only step where there are plants growing

Egret, Assateague Lighthouse

Elle the Egret begs for fish, but don’t feed - she’s a messy eater, and can catch her own.

Assateague is free to bikes. Annual pass saves car fees.
