PRAYER FOR THE BEGINNING OF SCHOOL

Father,

We thank you for the gift of children and young people, in our households, in our Parish, and in our community. We thank you for the opportunity to begin this new school year, and we ask that you bless the students, facul-ty, and administrators as they open themselves to new revelations and the work of the Holy Spirit in their lives. We pray that you will guide them al-ways, so that they will seek your will in everything that they do. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BECOMING CATHOLIC?

The Rite of Christina Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is both the process by which we bring unbaptized and baptized Christians into the Catholic Faith, and the Book that tells us how to do it (The Rite).

St Aloysius has a long history of RCIA and today we continue that ministry of evangelization whereby the entire parish welcomes, stands with throughout the process, and supports in prayer and personal communication, those individuals who have asked to be one with us at the Eucharistic Table.

As many of you know, RCIA is a year-round pro-cess – it begins anew each Sunday for anyone in-terested in finding out about the Catholic Church. And on any given Sunday the RCIA Team needs the physical presence of parishioners to serve as sponsors. Currently we need six (6) sponsors for the summer who can walk with and share their faith with one of our Candidates. The commitment is one hour after 9:00 mass through the summer when your candidate celebrates the Rite of Full Communion with the Catholic Church.

Please call Rebecca East at 328-4366, or email [email protected].

STEWARDSHIP OF MINISTRY RENEWAL-TIME AND TALENT

Faith! A Gift to be Shared

School is starting soon and this is the time that we at St. Aloysius begin to discern where God is calling us to share our faith through ministry in the coming year.

In the first century, Jesus sent the disciples to focus on the needs of others and to them the Lord’s call was clear. “Proclaim the truth,” Jesus said; “cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, and drive out demons.” It was a set of specific instructions ad-dressing particular needs. As his followers, the dis-ciples proclaimed the Gospel through love and using their gifts in ministry to others.

Today, in obedience to the same call, we too are inspired to meet the needs of others, both in our par-ish community, our city, and our world. Please take some time in the next several weeks to reflect and listen for your own personal call from God to get in-volved.

Your copy of our Ministry Handbook, along with a special issue of Aloysius Alive, will be delivered to you in the mail in the next few weeks. Please review these materials and all of the ministries that are available. Also, please attend Mass at St. Aloysius on the weekend of August 16 & 17 for a special presentation on ministry by parishioners. Sign up online will begin on that weekend. Through Stewardship of Ministry, our faith is a labor

of love, and a gift to be shared.

August 3, 2014 5 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time

O great St. Peregrine, you have been called "The Mighty," "The Wonder-Worker," be-cause of the numerous miracles which you have obtained from God for those who have had recourse to you. For so many years you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys the very fiber of our being, and who had recourse to the source of all grace when the power of man could do no more. You were fa-vored with the vision of Jesus coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction. Ask of God and Our Lady, the cure of the sick whom we entrust to you, especially Fr. Than and the members of our families and Parish.

Aided in this way by your powerful intercession, we shall sing to God, now and for all eternity, a song of gratitude for His great goodness and mercy. Amen.
