PEACE

What is PEACE??

Peace is a state of balance and understanding in yourself and between others, where respect is

gained by the acceptance of differences, tolerance persists, conflicts are resolved through dialog,people's rights are respected and their voices are heard, and everyone is at their highest point of

serenity without social tension. It is a quality describing a society or a relationship that is operating

harmoniously. This is commonly understood as the absence of hostility, or the existence of healthyor newly-healed interpersonal or international relationship , safety in matters of social or

economic welfare, the acknowledgment of equality and fairness in political relationships and, in

world matters, peacetime ; a state of being absent of any war or conflict. Reflection on the natureof peace is also bound up with considerations of the causes for its absence or loss. Among these

potential causes are: insecurity , social injustice, economic inequality, political and religious

radicalism, and acute racism and nationalism . From the Anglo-Norman pas , and meaning

"freedom from civil disorder", the English word came into use in various personal greetings from

c.1300 as a translation of the biblical terms pax (from the Vulgate ) and Greek eirene, which inturn were renderings of the Hebrew shalom. Shalom, cognate with the Arabic "salaam", has

multiple meanings: safety, welfare, prosperity, security, fortune, friendliness. The personalizedmeaning is reflected in a nonviolent lifestyle, which also describes a relationship between any

people characterized by respect , justice and goodwill. This latter understanding of peace can also

pertain to an individual's sense of himself or herself, as to be "at peace" with one's own mindattested in Europe from c.1200. The early English term is also used in the sense of "quiet ",

reflecting a calm, serene, and meditative approach to the family or group relationships that avoids

quarreling and seeks tranquility an absence of disturbance or agitation.

Peaceful life is still intact in daily life as it has been implanted through the world of

education . Outsiders, people from surrounding islands, system of education - imposed bythe government of Indonesia influenced tradition very strongly. Education changed the

existing status within the social system. People became more broad-minded, aware of their

rights and obligations, and perceived themselves as part of a universal community and not

just as members of a particular tribes or provinces which have different cultures. This is also

because of the influence of technology. Technological advancements raise the question of the

effect of information on people and peace through democracy. However, they still preserve

their own tradition or culture though the spread of information and technology among them.

Moreover, Indonesia typically believe that the community should takepriority over individuals.

The Indonesia culture is as vibrant and versatile as its landscape and natural beauty. The rich

Indonesian culture is the result of the influence of the various neighboring countries and its very

own ethnic culture. The influence of India and the China since the ancient times and the Europeanand the Middle Eastern influence in the medieval age are behind the vibrant culture of Indonesia.Religions also had a big effect on the Indonesian culture. Though a largest Muslim country in the

world Indonesia still has the influence of Hinduism and Buddhism embedded in its everyday life.

The culture of Indonesia is well depicted in the arts and crafts of this South Asian country.

Some of the prominent cultural sites of Indonesia are:

Palembang which consists of the 18th century remnants of the Muslim rule

Borobudur is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The site consists of the Hindu-

Buddhist temple of the ninth century.

Jakarta is also one of the cultural sites of Indonesia as it consists of a number of museumsand markets which are dedicated to indigenous art and crafts.

Taman Sari which is a water castle used by the kings and queens for bathing and

relaxation.

The true spirit of the Indonesian culture is reflected in the music, dance, drama, literature and

cuisine of the country. Currently the west has influenced the country through television and

cinema. The government of Indonesia arranges for a number of cultural activities for the tourists sothat they can get a true feel of the countrys tradition

PEACEFUL LIFE IN WEST SUMATRA, INDONESIA

West Sumatra as one of the provinces in Indonesia, famously known as Minangkabau, living

in peace and hold strongly democracy in the daily life in spite of marked by varios traits,

neighbors, social classes, and society, consequently the people can live in peace because they

respect each other. The strength of a community lies in its ability to communicate and reach

a consensus on issues relating to the society. For example, in a public meeting, every person is

given the opportunity to voice his opinion. As a rule, he who wishes to speak chooses one

person who is to respond or react to his ideas. After he has voiced his views any other person

wishing to speak or refute the idea can do so. This process continues till the public as a whole

agrees or disagrees on the issue. This majority consensus is another aspect of the traditional

concept of democracy.

So, in making decision they always organize discussion in order to the best solution get be

reached without neglecting the other parties. This creates good atmosphere in the society and

provide peaceful condition among the society.

PEACE IN EDUCATION

Peace can be the process of acquiring the values, the knowledge and developing the attitudes,

skills, and behaviors to live in harmony with oneself, with others, and with the natural

environment.

Peace of mind is not something to be found only on the Himalayas, by monks and hermits. It

is attainable here and now, wherever you are, irrespective of your external circumstances,since it is an inner state, and is independent of circumstances and external conditions.

Peace manifests, when the incessant inner chatter of the mind slows down. When it appears,

anxiety, stress, worries, fear, mental and emotional restlessness, nervousness and impatience

disappear. It is a state of inner calmness, tranquility and serenity, which brings forth

happiness, tolerance, inner poise, inner balance and self-control.

Peace of mind is an acquired skill, which requires time, practice and perseverance to

develop, just like any other skill. With the right training, and with desire, motivation,

patience and perseverance, you are sure to attain at least some degree of inner peace.

Peace of mind will enable you to manifest calmness and tranquility in your daily life, and also

in difficult and trying situations. It will allow you to display emotional and mental

detachment whenever needed, and thereby avoid being too affected by other people's words,

feelings and behavior. It will also enable you to control your reactions and become a happy,

patient, tolerant and open-minded human being.

There are various techniques for gaining peace of mind, and following and implementing

them, even for just a few minutes a day, will make a noticeable difference in your life, and

you will soon become aware of positive inner changes within you.

We don't have wait for the perfect circumstances to start working on gaining it. We can starthere and now, regardless of the kind of life you are living, and irrespective of your

circumstances. This might require some effort on your part, but it is a worthwhile project

and the rewards are great.

We can continue living your own life, without changing your external condition, continue

with your job and relationships, and yet work on attaining inner peace. This is done in a

gradual manner, by learning to change your mental attitude, developing inner strength and

inner detachment, through meditation and through other means.

Indonesian living in peace with a good democration

Indoenesia is a large country possessing many cultures, isalands, religiosn, an so on.

However, the people can live in peace and implementation well. For example, Maluku is one

of the poorest provinces in Indonesia. According to the World Food Programme Poverty

Map of Indonesia publication (2005), incidence of poverty in the province has been higher

than 30 %. Despite the extended complex problems, there is, on the other hand, a sincere

wish on the part of nearly all Maluku people to progress the peace building process. The

current project will assist the provincial government in addressing the complex and multi-

faceted problems related to the building of a stable peace situation in the aftermath of the

ethnic conflict.

There are interventions to be implemented in 3 years in around 20 villages with a beneficiarynumber of more than 20,000:

Village organization and empowerment

Sustainable livelihood development through education and technology transfer

Peace building and conflict management

Improving overall living and occupational & health conditions.

Indonesia is now labelled by Freedom House as a free country although this is a

somewhat misleadingly broad category. Nevertheless, Indonesia is doing better today thanany of the democracies that lost democracy were at the time they lost it.

A worrisome trend is the recent erosion not only of democracy but of levels of freedom. The

last three years 2006, 2007, 2008 are the first three successive years since the end of the

Cold War when the number of countries declining in a given year in their levels of freedom

exceeded the number of countries improving their levels of freedom.

The fact that Indonesia is holding its own at a relatively good level of political rights and civil

liberties is itself a noteworthy achievement.

While Indonesias civil liberties, political rights, and levels of governance have improvedsince 2005, it still has levels of governance, by a number of measures, which are in some

respects in the category of vulnerability. The trend recently has been to suggest that

Indonesia has either consolidated democracy or is very far along the path of doing so. There

are grounds for being a little more sceptical.

Nevertheless, the level of public support for democracy in Indonesia compares favourably

compared to other regions of the world. Globally there is a growing ambivalence toward

democracy.

In East Asia and Africa only about half of respondents, in various surveys, on average

rejected all of the 3 authoritarian options put to them: the military coming back to power;one party rule; and getting rid of parliament and having a strong ruler decide everything.

The cause of this is basically the reputation a government has in respect of bad governance.

SPREAD THE PEACE THROUGH ARTS / MUSIC

Art is one of the ways in spreading Peace among youth due to its power in influencing many

people. Music which is one kind of arts, believed that has tremendous power in driving someone

to act well and create peaceful life. Folk Music of every nation is deeply rooted in the heritage,beauty and Truth. Music which can facilitate the creation of a bridge of Peace and harmony

among all nations. Musical interaction creates social values. Two or more people create something

that is greater than the sum of what they create each on their own. And sympathies are formed -strong feelings of belonging. Music making in a group brings out the social dynamics of the group.

Harmonic as well as strained relationships are brought to the front. This is the very essence of

chamber music. Through musical dialogues the interrelationship within the group is explored. Thefollowing is a report on three projects where inter-ethnic music making has proved successful in

promoting inter-cultural understanding.

Therefore, the youth has a good influence on the public and can use their Music for a specific

cause such as to spread Peace among nations, and reduce the Influence of the mainstream mediawhich sends a message which is against human values and full of violence. Human souls need

peace and one of the the best ways is through Music.because it is a link between souls, when this

link grows it can create that real and firm foundation on which our upcoming generations feelLove, not hate for other nations, and the best way is to share goodness among nations.

A regular event can be organized on a yearly basis in which all the artist from the entire world

participate with their own arts like music This event can be managed in different countries every

year especially In between those countries who have conflicts and do not have good Relationshipssuch as India and Pakistan .

HOW TO CREATE PEACE

Creating peace is not as easy as this sounds. There are blocks that are primarily located within the

individual. They arise out of the hurt and misinformation we have all experienced. They can beovercome! The easiest way is to talk about your experience, thoughts and feelings while someoneelse listens with love.

The most common block is "splitting" We split (e.g.) home and job and while attempting to create

a peaceful loving home may work for an industry that makes and sells destructive products or an

organisation that exploits human weakness. Living with this "split" will eventually destroy ourinner peace as well as the world's. The cost of denying conscience is an enormous one. It can lead

to stress related illness, unhappy family life (confronting adolescent children) and premature aging

and death.. Humankind is on the very brink of multiple catastrophe; war, terrorism, environmentaldegradation and gross inequality threaten our very existence. Yet there has never before been so

much knowledge about each other, or such opportunities for collaboration and mutual learning.

The time for action is now. We have the ability to create a good future for ourselves. we are alldifferent and yes, we are all the same. Somehow we need to find a way to respect each others

differences and live together because whether we like it or not we all share the same living quarters

. This eye for an eye thing is getting us nowhere! This lens is not an answer to our problems.Actially there are several ways how to create Peace.

Firstly, Fnd happiness and peace within yourself in order to share it with others. Most of us have

something that we could change to make our little world happier and more peaceful. It can be a

simple thing like deciding to smile more. Or changing a job, relationship or situation. It may bedifficult to imagine at first but any change is possible if we really want it and believe it can happen.

Next, meditation is just a way for your mind to finally have that much deserved rest. It is theprocess of stopping all the noise in your mind and allowing you to focus on that quiet peaceful soul

that is within you.

Later, share that peace with others! Who do we share this with? For most of us it is our family or

friends who we already have a relationship with. We need to share our peace and understanding

with them in order to learn to share it with the rest of the world! They are our Guinea pigs on theroad to peace! If we can perfect our skills of love, respect and understanding with them, we can use

those skills with others on this planet! And then others may learn from us and spread the idea of

peace through their own acts of love, understanding and respect

Peace is not just the absence of destructive conflict. It is a natural state of balance and harmonywith joy, exploration and excitement. Simple passivity would never satisfy human beings because

we love adventure. The world is a beautiful place with immense opportunities for learning and

positive excitement.

In addition, feed body mind and spirit. The "feeding" of body, mind and spirit is about giving andreceiving love. In the process of giving and receiving love, people are healed and become whole

and at peace, able to build peace by simply being themselves. No individual can become fully

integrated and fully functioning by her/himself, we become whole only by loving and being loved.

The task we have if we wish to build peace is awe-inspiring. It is no less than to build a world

society whose guiding principle is neither greed nor fear but love. There is no person in the worldwho does not share this wish at some level. Every organisation has in interest in it, too, because the

present system can only lead to chaos and disintegration resulting in the degradation of a verybeautiful planet and the end of human life on Earth.

The process of peace building is multi-layered. People who "sacrifice" their family life to the cause

and create unhappy families do not provide models who are credible to others. They can become

fanatics. Far better to conduct "peace building" in a way that gathers family and communitysupport!

This is stronger because of the base of psychological support and provides a model people can

identify with and follow. As "peace" is a natural harmonious state this implies that the process of

peace making should be natural and spontaneous. "Building peace" then becomes a matter ofsupporting and strengthening processes that are already operating in that direction, rather than

imposing aggressively "new" processes that may create antagonism and resentment.

The natural processes include the worldwide communication revolution that has the potential to

provide accurate information about the beauty, vulnerability and interdependence of our planet.There is an extremely rapid diffusion of ideas and practices throughout the world and growing

awareness of the threats to peace. Collaboration about issues about peace across national frontiers

is increasing dramatically and "ordinary" people are taking determined stances. Above all, peopleare starting to discover the hope that lies beyond despair. The process for building peace is to

support others' efforts as well as initiating your own. A letter to someone who is taking a

courageous stand can be enormously powerful. So can listening supportively to people who are in

fear or doubt.

Natural processes of peace making operate also at local level and are very important. The resources

of a single community are enormous and if harnessed could make a fantastic difference.

Harnessing won't happen until community spirit is developed, so that people feel supported enough

to want to engage positively with the outside world.

Creating support/community spirit is of course valuable in itself. How about community picnics

and festivals, or creating informal networks and festivals where people can start to help each other

and create fellowship across the cultural, racial and economic divides? This feels awfully risky butis it really no more than the risk of not doing anything? Not acting leads in the short term to

community disintegration, violence and decay and in the long term to chaos. When community

spirit is developed, the caring community can diffuse the caring of its members more widely evenacross national frontiers.

There is a great deal of fear about doing practical things about building peace. In my own case, it is

mainly shyness, fear of failure "it is so big it's not worth starting" and fear of looking foolish -

people will only knock my efforts or attack me and say "I am out of touch with reality, what can

ordinary people do?" It is funny that those fears sometimes seem more compelling than the fear ofdying in a radioactive desert or leaving our children a barren wasteland

Another block is being competitive; building peace must involve collaborative effort. It is too big

and complex a task for anyone to do alone. Yet somehow dreams are the last things we share. It is

a terrible insult, not a compliment, to be termed a "visionary", or an idealist, but without vision orideals there is no long-term future.

If action is required something has to be done. Many people believe wholeheartedly that peace

needs to be built but have some difficulty in seeing where to start. Here are a few first ideas, basedon the principle that lasting peace is best achieved through love.

Make a new friend, later plan with him/her a peace building activity.

Talk through your anxieties about getting involved with a friend. Plan to do something,

however small.

Identify one thing you are good at and see how to use it to build peace, locally, nationally

or wider.

Write a letter to someone in authority about a specific problem: put a possible peace

building solution.

Build or join a supportive network organisation with an interest in peace building close to

your own.

Put interested people in touch with existing organisations or each other.

Have a neighbourhood party or picnic to celebrate a happy event. Encourage conversation

about peace building there.

Offer your help to an individual or organisation involved in building peace.

Run or support a local peace festival with music, theatre, and games. Invite prominentlocal people; lobby them by offering your help in promoting peace.

Organise a conference.

Write an article outlining your ideas and vision

Your own favourite idea!

If these and other ideas are to work, they must model the process you want to create. It's no use to

have a solemn, formal, conflict laden peace building conference or party, if you see peace as

happy, enthusiastic and joyful! Make sure people have plenty of time to get to know and value

each other in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Above all, do what you enjoy doing and what youbelieve in. You are responsible for your own peace.

Education seems to focus on talking not listening and competition not co-operation. Listening and

cooperating skills are essential for building peace and, indeed, in achieving anything with other

people. If you don't listen to others, you can't understand them and if you don't understand them,

how can you work together? The increasing interdependence and uncertainty of our worlddemands a change in this direction, fast. These skills are necessary for economic as well as social

and spiritual survival.

How to deliver peace in troubled Papua province, Jakarta Post . Mar, 1st 2010 01:11 PM

A series of threats and violence in the mining area of PT Freeport Indonesia is unlikely to cease

despite the death of the Free Papua Movement (OPM) leader Kelly Kwalik, who was believed tobe behind the terror in Papua.

The Jan. 24 shooting was the 4th shooting incident in the last seven months, causing an increase in

the security and military measures of the mining company.

Freeport and the Indonesian government have a long and complex history not only with the

separatist group, but with the local community. Social disparities, the unequal spread of wealth,historical concerns and allegations of "stealing" Papua's natural resources were at the root of the

conflict. Despite the efforts of both parties to overcome this problem, Papua remains a problematic

issue in Indonesia's politics.

Following Indonesia's so-called attempt to free West Papua in 1963, Freeport started its full

operation in 1966, causing ongoing resistance from the local community who believe the companyand the government is destroying their homeland and not compensating them enough.

Although, since the late 1990s, Freeport has made various attempts to empower the communityand provide basic infrastructure and needs, the damage done was already too big to be

compensated by just 1 percent of the company's revenue.

Similarly, the government's approach to Papua has not been very popular. After the assassination

of notable Papuan leader Theys Hiyo Eluay by seven members of the Indonesian Special ArmyTroops (Kopassus) and the shooting of Kelly Kwalik by the police force, the attitude of the

Papuans' toward the government is clearly not improving.

It was a clear irony watching Kwalik's funeral, where a man labeled as separatist was mourned by

more than 800 local people, raising questions about the given label. One could see there wassomething wrong in the government's handling of the Papuan case.

The case of Papua is obviously not an easy one to handle. A combination of historical issues,

economic concerns, political factors and cultural aspects clearly plays a role in the dispute. The

government has so far only touched on several aspects of the problem, leaving other issuesuntouched.

The government for example, responded to the economic and political issues by giving special

autonomy status to the region, providing the region with more money and opportunity to grow,although the success of this program is still questionable.

Similarly, the government, during president Megawati Soekarnoputri's legacy, decided to divide

the region into five provinces despite the local accusation that it was merely the government's

technique to minimize the "freedom of aspiration" of the people by giving them more power.

As a result, the region so far had been separated into two provinces with uncertain and mixed

results for growth and development.

However, the government still hasn't touched on one of the most crucial issues covering the region,which is culture. Papua, without a doubt, is the most distinct cultural groups in the country. Not

only do they have a strikingly different appearance, race and identity from their Indonesiancounterparts, they also have a different historical background.

Papuans were not involved in Indonesia's Youth Pledge (Sumpah Pemuda) in 1928 nor inIndonesia's Proclamation of Independence in 1945. Papuans were "latecomers" in Indonesia's

history and therefore share a different sense of belongings compared to the other people in the

country.

This situation was worsened by the stereotype given to the Papuans as minor, uneducated and asubordinate group in the community, making them even more reluctant to join the larger

community of Indonesia. This is one crucial issue the government has failed to touch on.

Richard Chauvel (2005) put it very clearly when he said that Papuans have a different sense of

nationalism from Indonesia, one that is called "Papuan Nationalism", a larger sense of belonging tothe region rather than to the country, due to the similarity in identity, culture and historical

background. This nationalism is often very influential to the point that even long-time immigrants

and non-Papuans can actually relate and even possess this sense of belonging.

If there is one thing the central government lacks in negotiating peace with Papua, it is a clearunderstanding of this "nationalism". It is true that economic factors also play an important role, but

economic solutions alone won't be enough. Papua needs recognition as a different identity, a

different culture and an equal partner within Indonesia. If Indonesia can't or won't give that

recognition, they are going to force it using their own way.

What Papua needs is recognition. Not recognition as a separate country, but as a different entity

with a different culture that should receive equal treatment and respect from the others. Papua is

indeed a complex case, requiring not only the government's approach but also the involvement ofsociety as well as an overall perspective shift regarding the issue.

It is therefore a matter of bridging communication and understanding between the central

government, the local community and society to solve the problem of Papua. Misunderstanding is

often a source of dispute and Papua has been misunderstood for so long.

What the government needs to work on now is not just implementing economic developmentpolicy in Papua, but how to integrate Papuans into the larger Indonesian community, slowly

building their sense of belonging as Indonesians, not just as Papuans.

Denise Leith (2003) argues that one of the basic problems of the Freeport-Indonesia-localcommunity relationship is cultural differences that often blur the lines of communication, leading

to misunderstanding, resentment and inappropriate development programs. Indonesia, therefore,

needs to work first on understanding Papuan culture and their national identity before its hopes of a

lasting peace in Papua can be achieved.

This should be the goal, not only for the government, but society as a whole, if Negara KesatuanRepublik Indonesia (the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia) is still our final goal.

SMA 1 PADANG

1. SPREADING PEACE AMONG CHILDREN

Spreading peace is an important thing needed for healing the children after our city almost

completely destroyed by a massive earthquake September 2009. Based on this condition, our

team put our affords in supporting children life and bring them to aPeaceful life with the

Spirit of Peace through Music, Cultures, and the other actions for overcoming their trauma

after undergoing bad situation.

1. Delivering money to the Elementary Schools to create Peace among children .

Having care of the situation after earthquake attacked our city, at the time the children

absolutely felt difficult life due to their houses and schools collapsed by earthquake, we tried

to make condition become better and lead children to get Peace, by colleting money and

other things to help the children who got bad impacts of earthquake felt better . We

collaborated with our friends from the other countries with the help of our teacher to

support the life after earthquake for school children in getting money. Fortunately, we got

money and school supplies from several countries like Japan, USA, Australia. Therefore, we

tried to spread Peace by visiting several elementary schools in Padang and delivered

money and school supplies to them to use for buying anything they need for continuing their

education and share them about how we can live in peace in spite of the bad situations we

were undergoing at that time. We got together with the children and teachers in the tents in

which they were studying at that time as their classrooms had been destroyed by

earthquake. The children were truly glad due to the entertainment we provided as well.

They said that they would try to be happy and live in Peace although they had just

experiences bad situation. They did appreciate our coming since we provided them

suggestions and several ways to live in Peace in undesired conditions. So, we were not only

help children in getting money for buying their schools supplies, but also in providing them

knowledge aboutPeace or living inPeace after natural disaster.

Team Cintodamai SMA 1 Padang organized Peace mission by visiting school children and

gave them

money to be used for their education and entertain them with songs and share how to live in

Peace

Peace Posters : Creating Peace Posters in Promoting Peace among Children

Poster as a large printed notice is believed to have tremendous impact in promoting peace

for teenagers or children who act as agent of change. In encouraging teenagers to

comprehend more aboutPeace, our school also engaged students to makePeace posters the

people in order to the students can improve their awareness about Peace and can share

peace messages to the others, as a result, there will be many teenagers spread Peace in their

community and peaceful life can be reached producing good situation and condition in our

society. The activity of creating Peace posters apparently improve students creativity and

empathy as well. Besides creating the posters, the students of SMA 1 Padang also presented

and described the messages found on their posters, and after that they giving several ideas

about how to live in Peace which can produce blissful life; no conflict, dispute, or war.

Music

Music has been proven as one of the things that can provide positive values to the life of

human being such as in creating peaceful life among societies around the world. Firstly,

through music, the peace among the youth can be reached due to its power in stimulating

the serenity of human especially in making their soul become peace and happy. So, we

believe that music has tremendous power, We feel that it should be shared through myriads

of activities by organizing the youth or children to appreciate the music by asking them to

sing a song related withPeace since music can facilitate the creation of a bridge of Peace and

harmony among all society and nations.

Therefore, in this project we also organized music performance with the spirit of PEACE

in entertaining the children after our city devastated by a massive earthquake on

Septmeber 30, 2009. Ayes, one of the team members of Cintodami Team, composed a songwith the themePeace. So, on February 17, 2010, we visited a course where there are several

students getting knowledge, we shared the song about Peace, practiced the children sing

this song with the purpose to spread the Peace among the children and improve their

awareness toward the importance of living in peace to produce healthy mind, healthy life

since there is a relationship between healthy life, healthy mind, and peace. Besides, we also

believe that music has a good influence on children and can be used for a specific purpose

such is healing the children after experiencing bad situation like earthquake, and reduce the

Influence of the mainstream media such as the bad performances they see on TV which

sometimes send a message which is against human values and full of violence. This is also

because music has the power to promote conflict transformation by enhancing nonviolence,

creativity and empathy. So, we place our musical talents at the service of humanity, helping

hand to those suffering from natural disasters, with the goal of empowering them with hope

and energy.

Culture

Culture is one of essential things in human life since millions of years ago. Thus, culture

definitely contribute in developing human civilization and in providing Peace for the

people around the world. In our culture we are encouraged to work together like in our

culture Minangkabau, if we want to hold a party, all relatives contribute in succeeding the

event by participating in helping anything needed by a family which can decrease the

burden of the family who hold the party or event. This way of life is one of the symbols of

living inPeace in our society.

Based on this believe, our team encourage the youth to appreciate our own culture by

publishing several ideas related with culture that can drive them to understand and love

Peace since culture is also one of the medias that can be used to promote Peace. Besides, we

also organize a cultural performance to trigger students awareness in promotingPeace and

stimulate the young people to take care their culture as the things that can facilitate us in

creating Peace in our life. In this activity, some students wore traditional clothes and

performed traditional songs accompanied by traditional music.

Students with their traditional customes in our culture and tradional musical

instruments, red symbolizes the bravery and blue symbolizes peace.

So, the bravery in spreading peace.
