Important School Notes
SCHOOL THEME ~ Every school year here at Peace, we choose a theme. This year’s theme comes
from Philippians 4:13 “I can do everything through him who gives me strength.” The theme is
“Strength in Christ.” This verse has a special meaning to me personally. When I was 19, I left college
and joined the army. It was a challenging time. Basic training was hard and scary and I thought about
quitting a lot. But on the second or third day that I was there, the base chaplain handed out pocket
Bibles. One of the first verses I read was this one. Every time basic training got hard, every time I
thought about quitting, I repeated these words to myself. In time, I graduated and served for four
years. God taught me an important lesson about applying his word to my life. Too often, we try to dig
down deep into some well of inner strength to stand when life is difficult. But that’s not where
strength in Christ comes from – it comes from Christ. It comes from hearing his gospel message.
Every time we hear of Jesus’ love and forgiveness, the Holy Spirit works in our hearts. He gives us
strength to face our own weakness and failures. He gives us strength to endure all the hurts and
sorrows of this life. He gives us strength to stand firm in our faith until we reach eternal life. Our
children are going to hear a lot about Jesus and his love this year. We pray that God gives them all
Strength in Christ.
ACTIVITY DAY ~ is coming soon! Mark your calendars for Tuesday, October 4. This is a day when
we divide the school into teams and compete in wacky relays and activities. The students really enjoy
the day and the friendly competition.
The day starts normal, but we will break into teams and meet outside at 9:00. We will spend the first
part doing relays take a break and then do station games. We then will be having a special pizza hot
lunch that day, so students can either bring a lunch or order pizza. If a few parents could send in
cookies for a dessert that day, I am sure they would be appreciated. After lunch we will be having a
kickball tournament
However this day requires many volunteers. I need at least 20 people to help the teams, judge relays,
or run a station. The jobs are very easy and fun. You should be getting an e-mail on how to volunteer
on line. Grandparents, aunt, uncles, are also welcome to volunteer. If you have any questions, please
contact Janet Murphy at school.
SCHOOL PICTURE DAY ~ will be on Monday, September 26th for all students in the 4 year old
Preschool through 8th grade. All students will be photographed that day. The 3 year old preschool
class will have their picture taken on October 27th. This year you can place your orders and pay online
at mylifetouch.com Please us our Picture Day ID: LM746243Y0. You will receive a free digital
image with your online purchase when you join the Lifetouch MyFamily Rewards Program. All
students will be photographed. Online orders do not require anything to be returned on picture day. If
you do not order and pay online please complete the attached form and include your exact payment
amount and return to school on Picture Day. You can pay the day of pictures with cash or check
payable to Lifetouch. If paying with cash please have the exact amount, the photographer will not

picture day.
