Indoor sports complex at Sainik School Balachadi inaugurated

RAJKOT: The multipurpose indoor sports complex was inaugurated at Sainik School Balachadi in Jamnagar district in present of top army officials. According to Sainik School officials, as per the need of the hour, the school has added one more feather to its infrastructure. A multipurpose Indoor Sports Complex with all modern amenities has come up in the sprawling campus. The majestic building was inaugurated by Lt. Gen Vijay Sharma, PVSM, AVSM, Engineer-in-chief and Senior Colonel Commandant, proud alumni of the School.The chief guest expressed his exhilaration on his home coming. He was also elated to note the strides of developments taking place in the school. He urged the students to make the optimum use of all the facilities provided to hone their skills. The chief guest interacted with parents and staff who were also present during the Parent Teachers Meeting. The General also felicitated certain teachers for their outstanding contribution in mentoring the cadets. Col Rajeev Shukla, Principal Sainik School Balachadi assured the chief guest of the appropriate utilization of the amenities.

SUMMARY:Sports Complex was build at Sainik School Balachadi in Jamnagar. This is a multipurpose structure, a sports complex with modern amenities. The bulding was inaugurated by an alumni of the school, . Gen Vijay Sharma, PVSM, AVSM, Engineer-in-chief and Senior Colonel Commandant. He advices the students to make the best of the facility that was given to them. He also mingled with the parents and staff that was present at the event. The Principal of the school, Col Rajeev Shukla, lets everyone know that the amenities will not be wasted.

REACTION:Im happy that sport complexes are still being built for schools in India. Schools always promote exercise and being active but its difficult to do that if they have no proper equipment or location to do that. All around the world a lot of schools have the same problem, problem with equipment and location, especially in 3rd world countries where government funding is more focused on elsewhere rather than schools.

Some Players Are Trying to Add to the Game's Excitement by Going With Paddles Designed for Power Rather Than Spin By FREDERICK DREIER

Every sport has its seminal, game-changing moment, when new techniques or technology brings about a revolution in play. For ping pong, that moment came in 1952.Sponge quickly replaced hard paddles on the international circuit. Asian players came to dominate, and the sport evolved into its modern era, where spin decides the outcome. Reisman refused to evolve. His flamboyant style and hustler persona made him America's foremost ping pong personality, and he used his celebrity to promote "hardbat" competitions, which outlawed sponge paddles in favor of old-school paddles, which have a thin layer of rubber on the surface. Until his death in December at age 82, Reisman would tell anyone within earshot why hardbat was superior to sponge. Reisman's arguments against sponge and spin have become the battle cry of table tennis purists. Excessive spin, they say, shortens rallies and puts too much emphasis on a player's wrist movement, not his foot speed and lateral reach. The shortened rallies make the game boring to watch. And sponge rackets can cost in excess of $300. In the months since Reisman's death, his hardbat movement has gained steam in ping pong bars and professional table-tennis halls across the world. This past January, veteran English sports promoter Barry Hearn organized the World Championships of Ping Pong at the Alexandra Palace in London. The stock-car style tournament forced players to use hard paddles with sandpaper surfaces. In New York City, Reisman's vision has continued at a more grass roots level. In 2007 he founded the company Table Tennis Nation alongside former elite player and entrepreneur Tony Ettinger to produce simple sandpaper paddles for mass distribution. The group now manufactures sandpaper paddles that are designed to make the game easier for novice players. The face of the sandpaper paddle is 25% bigger than that of a competition-grade sponge paddle. Layered wood and a carbon-fiber interior also create a bigger "sweet spot." It costs just $30, and players can customize designs on the paddle's face. Ettinger claims the paddle also neutralizes spin from sponge paddles. "A $300 sponge paddle tries to shorten the rallies," Ettinger said. "Our paddle is designed to make it easier to return the ball." Table Tennis Nation promotes sandpaper tournaments at bars and restaurants around the city, and the upscale table-tennis club SPIN, with amateur tournaments it calls Slams. It also holds regular competitions at the headquarters of various tech startups, where ping pong tables have become regular office furniture. The company's paddle, however, won't be seen at international tournament soon. The International Table Tennis Federation bans sandpaper paddles at Olympic-level competition.

SUMMARY

The article is about the history of ping pong and how it came to be. The early life od ping pong the paddles were made out of sponges and hard surfaces. Hard paddles were used in international tourneys, were Asian players came to dominate. And this is where everything begins. But one man refuses this evolution, Reisman. He propose that used of sponges in ping pong paddles shorten rallies and makes the game boring. Others, like Tony Ettinger, produced a paddle that only consist of sandpaper. This sand paper paddle made the game more easier for everyone. Table Tennis Nation promote this new sandpaper paddle in tournaments. But even though this paddle is used in many clubs and bars it will not be used in international tournaments or Olympic level tournaments.

It’s a very interesting article, that it tells us about the history of ping pong and how it came to be right now. Im sure most people didn’t know how there are different paddles used in table tennis and how different paddle have different effect on how you play, Which could make playing easier or harder or depending on your ping pong skills. Its good to learn about different sports and their history, it will help us appreciate and understand the game more. Just like anything else knowledge about the sport will always make us better doing it.

Anyone who's driven past the former Armstrong distribution center on Route 283 knows it is massive.Now home to Spooky Nook Sports, a look inside gives some context to what its officials call the largest indoor sports complex in the country. As configured Thursday, it could host six tennis matches, a field hockey game, 11 volleyball games and three basketball games (10 courts are hardwood maple.) And practice in eight batting cages and four pitching tunnels, infield play on an artificial turf and a climbing activities, including a 30-foot-wall and the first Clip 'N Climb automatic-belaying climbing surfaces in the country. All at the same time. And if you don't like real games, an arcade offers a variety of video games, including giant-sized Connect Four. That's just in the half of the 13-plus-acre building opening to the public June 3. The facility has been in a "soft opening" since March and has already hosted volleyball tournaments. Tonight, Lancaster Mennonite High School is holding its senior banquet at Spooky Nook and on May 18, the Lancaster County Women's Expo will be held there. "We are a huge facility. We want it to be more than just sports. We want to do sports, entertainment and events," Stephanie Jordan, marketing coordinator, said during Thursday's media day. Sports is the main focus though, as evidenced by the specially-designed flooring in the welcome area: White tiles covered in black sneaker footprints. The facility will also have a fitness center, a pro shop, smoothie bar and other food, locker rooms and rooms to host birthday parties. Hours of operation are still being worked out, Jordan said. Membership ranges from $15 a month for youth tennis to $172 a month for "ultimate" family memberships, which includes fitness memberships, group exercise, tennis and climbing — plus initiation fees. Spooky Nook Sports has partnered with Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster to offer on-site physical therapy and rehabilitation services.

SUMMARY

Armstrong center is now home to Spooky Nooks Sports, which is being called the biggest indoor sports complex in the country. It has 6 tennis courts, hockey field, 11 volleyball courts, 3 basketball courts, 3 batting cages, 4 pitching tunnels, an infield, rock climbing area, and arcade. This is just some of what this 13+ acre building has. This building is the epitome of indoor facility. It will cost about $172/mo for unlimited access to everything. Spooky Nook Sports is partnered with Orthopedic Associates Lancester for any physical therapy and rehabilitation services.

Its great that they have used an unused facility and made it into a great and amazing facility. Just  imagining how tremendous this facility is just mind blowing. I believe that more and more of these facilities all over the world should be made to accommodate and promote physical wellness and activeness. Many people now live stationary lives and don’t really have time or a place to do anything physical but more and more of these facilities come up then people will do more. As the saying goes “if you build it they will come” 

Importance Of Good Indoor Sports Lighting During An Event

If you are planning to host a sports event in an enclosed area, it is essential to ensure proper indoor sports lighting. This is something that should be considered by the management committee as it can make a difference and mar the enjoyment of the game. The play area should be well lit when this event is conducted indoors and viewers arrive in large numbers to enjoy the event.

I believe that this is very true. Without proper lighting any and all indoor facility will be rendered useless. Rather than it being a useable place is just becomes a storage place. But light isn’t the only thing that should be factored in but also the maintenance of the lighting. Lighting should be always at optimal performance and it can not perform as so when it is not well maintained. A well maintained lighting system can also remove any waste can I can bring, and without waste then the facility will always be at top performance.

Portland doesn’t always have great weather for playing outdoors, so there are no other option than to go inside and do it indoors. For example, Aerial dance, it’s an indoor yoga activity where you are tied up and doing aerial flips and stretches just like the acrobats in Las Vegas. Rock climbing can also be done indoors, there are many walls that are masked like real cliff sides than can be climbed on without even having to be outside. And for soccer players than needs a full field to be enjoyed there are indoor fields that is played as futsal, basically an indoor version of soccer.

REACTION

This is a great idea, since weather is unpredictable and impossible to change, many plans to play outdoors are canceled. Rather than completely canceling the idea of the activity they can just move it to a more controlled area. Since an indoor facility is controlled then people can perform at the peak of their abilities. Environment plays a big variable in sports and activities and when It can be controlled it can accommodate anyone. Weather should not be a reason to stop being active.
