What is PDHPE?Personal Development, Health and Physical Education

Personal development is the skills learnt to become aware of one’s self,

strengths and abilities.

Health and physical education combines the essential elements to provide knowledge and awareness to live a healthy and active lifestyle

where choices are made by the individual.

The teachings of PDHPE is not only about sport and how to play a particular sport. PDHPE provides

students with knowledge and support about their

development as a whole person. This subject helps to answer many questions

as students develop through their young stages into an adolescent. PDHPE teaches students how to

make decisions when facing positive and

negative situations.

Why is PDHPE taught?

PDHPE is a flexible subject which can be taught both in and outside the classroom. Educators divide the PDHPE syllabus according to stages. For example, student in Year 1 and Year 2 are in the stage

1 bracket. The syllabus is divided between the 2 years to provide students with all

the essential skills and knowledge to exercise the necessary developmental

skills within that stage bracket.

How is PDHPE taught In the classroom?

As a parent it is important to provide and encourage your child/ren to acquire a healthy

and active lifestyle.Through your involvement at

the school, your implementations will assist

the school program and actively support your child’s learning outside the school

environment.With your assistance, your

child needs to be encouraged to understand their own growth and development within the context of their

families and communities.

students to understand that improving health is the responsibility of

all members of society’.
