The National Literacy Strategy HIGH FREQUENCY WORDS FOR READING & SPELLING The list of words below is commonly occurring words that your child will need to learn as they progress in reading and spelling. These high frequency words are identified by The National Literacy Strategy "Framework for Teaching" where children will meet regularly in their reading and need to know for independent writing. These words are the expectation for most children to be able to read by the ages indicated. Most children will be able to read many other words as well.
