The information you provide in your application will be used to help the review committee select participants for the 2016 program. Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance as a Grosvenor Teacher Fellow. Educators will be selected to fill approximately 35 openings. We receive thousands of applications annually, so please recognize that the selection process is very competitive. Directions This is a sample application. Please do not submit this application. On the main Grosvenor Teacher Fellow website there is a link to an online application form that you must use to submit a complete application. PLEASE NOTE: You can NOT save your application as you go through the online form. 2016 Grosvenor Teacher Fellow Free Response Questions

(you must answer all 4) Applicants will be judged based on: 1. Their proven understanding of geographic literacy and ability to teach about the world; 2. Their current ability to reach a broad number of students, other professional educators, and the local community following the expedition; and 3. Their willingness, ability, passion, and creativity to bring back what they learned on the expedition and apply it in meaningful ways. Free Response Question #1: Please answer the following in 250 words or less. The Grosvenor Teacher Fellow program is named in honor of Gilbert M. Grosvenor, Chairman Emeritus National Geographic Society and Education Foundation Board, for his lifetime commitment to geography education and geographic literacy. The Grosvenor Teacher Fellow program is a highly competitive and unique professional development opportunity that few people are selected to experience. Tell us why we should select you for this program. Why are you passionate about teaching about the world? What makes you and your teaching unique? Program requirements are due over the course of the program year and include such things as goal-setting, classroom and outreach action plans, reflection, and outreach documentation. These requirements will help NG Education measure the program’s impact on Fellows, their students, and their professional and community networks as well as continue to improve and grow the program over time.
