Martial ArtsHave fun and gain confidence through martial arts! Whether it’s karate, taekwando, or judo, Fox Valley Park District offers a wide variety of disciplines and levels that will guide you on your journey from beginner to master.

Seisan Ryu KarateSeisan Ryu is a practical, efficient martial art dedicated to discipline, strength of character and personal safety. Participants may sign up for one or two nights a week; those who sign up for one night per week may come either night. Parents may practice with their children for free in the class for ages 6 to 12 after signing the Park District waiver. Head instructor David Carr has more than 30 years of experience in the martial arts and is a sixth degree black belt in karate. (MO) (JHP)

Karate Club This program is designed for children ages 3 to 14 and is taught in a unique way that encourages children to have fun and gain confidence. The program teaches the basics in karate, self-defense, sparring, kata and children’s safety with belt progression through black belt. Kung Fu for KidsClass focuses on strength, coordination, flexibility and balance, not aggression or competition. Children learn by doing flowing sequences of martial art movements. Life Skills Black Belt Karate Club - BeginnerParticipants achieve a higher level of self-discipline, self-confidence, self-esteem, concentration and coordination in a safe and fun environment. This program for white and yellow belts also can enhance social interaction and academic performance. All students can earn weekly achievement ribbons. Classes are taught by Tyson’s Taekwondo instructors under the direction of fourth degree Master Kyle Tyson, two-time AAU Gold Medalist. (MO)
