SAP changed their strategy in two main ways: Step 1: In 2012 they purchased SuccessFactors (and other companies) to leverage the “best of breed” soluQons and incorporate them as part of SAP’s offerings
Step 2: They enhanced the user interface of SAP via the portal to make it more user friendly and compeQQve
Step 1: Purchased SuccessFactors
AcquisiEon Notes In December 2011 SAP purchased SuccessFactors for $3.4bn in cash in an effort to make itself a “cloud powerhouse”. The deal helped boost SAP’s ability to offer soNware to companies as a service over the internet. SuccessFactors was known for providing soNware that helps companies manage their workforce via the cloud. It was the second largest cloud-‐based provider of enterprise soNware (behind only Salesforce.com).
