An overview of fertilizer statistics in Nigeria from 2012 –2015.
More emphasis is given to the year 2015 and each analysis is based on the products with higher quantities.
Official trade data obtained from the Nigeria Customs Service(NCS) validated by Fertilizer Technical Working Group – Nigeria (FTWG-NGA)
2015 data validated from the 23rd – 25th May, 2016.
Outline Background information
Fertilizer production
Comments:
• Notore Chemical Industries PLC is a primary producer ofUrea in Nigeria.
• In 2016, Indorama Group opened a Urea productionplant at Eleme, Rivers State with a capacity of 4,000MTPD
• There are several other companies blending differentkinds of NPK’s (e.g. Golden Fertilizers, TAK Agro,Springfield Agro Ltd, etc.)

Fertilizer imports
Comments:
• Over the years, NPK and Urea have been the mostimported fertilizers in Nigeria accounting for 68% of allofficial fertilizer imports in 2015.
• Total fertilizer imports reduced (by 44%) in 2015 ascompared to 2014.
• The reduction in 2015 was mainly because of the changeof government at all levels in the country which resultedin a no subsidy program that year.
