Interfaced Lock and KeyDescription Simply stated, INTERFACING is a proprietary method of generating a variety of key combinations for barrel locks used on a Utility Company’s distribution system.

Through the use of specially shaped, external mating surfaces between the forward end of the key body, and the receiving end of the barrel lock, Highfield is able to individually design and manufacture a barrel lock and key system for a specific Utility Company.

Prior to the ability of a manufacturer to provide interfaced barrel locks, “specially keyed” barrel locks were developed by redesigning the internal components of the barrel lock, resulting in costly system-wide change outs of locks and keys.

INTERFACING from Highfield now provides a Utility Company with the following capabilities and advantages:

Lock Extractor Kit

DescriptionThe lock extractor kit from Highfield has been engineered for fast, efficient removal of inoperative barrel locks from any type of security hardware on a utility system.

The unique design of the extractor element utilizes a reverse taper pin. This allows the lock to be “grabbed” from the inside diameter of the key hole avoiding damage to the surrounding hardware. In many cases the hardware may be re-used after extraction of the lock.

Because the lock extractor operates on this principle, it eliminates relying on extracting locks by use of the cross hole provided in the head of many barrel locks, and assures the older locks on a utility system may also be removed.

The one-time-only use of the extractor element insures accountability of extracted barrel locks by operating field personnel. Due to the sensitive nature of this tool, Highfield recommends the return of all extracted locks and extractor elements by field personnel. The carrying case containing each lock, extractor kit is provided for this purpose. This procedure will provide each user with a method of control as well as a means of maintaining the integrity of your locking system. Each kit is provided with a serial number for documentation purposes.

AMLR Ring

Front Entry Ring Removal Kit

DescriptionThe Front Entry Ring Removal Kit has been designed to provide utility personnel with a reusable tool for quick and efficient removal of Highfield front entry meter rings from field meter installations. This tool will not operate on the Armor Ring™ series or other competitive front entry rings.

The unique design of the Front Entry Removal Kit allows it to be easily assembled and mounted to all styles of Highfield front entry rings, even on gang meter installations, where space between meter centers may be at a minimum. The hardened ram screw assembly assures long field life for many reusable applications. Should the ram screw become worn or dull after extended use, the ram screw assembly may be removed and replaced.

Each kit is furnished complete with mounting frame and ram screw, threaded handle, and universal ratchet drive, packaged in a convenient carrying case. All kits are serial numbered to provide each utility with a method of internal control, as well as a means of maintaining the integrity of the locking system.

DescriptionThe Multi-Maxx™ electric meter bar is a patented security device, especially designed to lock off banks of ringless-type electric meter enclosures that are found primarily in apartment complexes and multi-housing properties. Meter tampering, theft of service and energy diversion are a growing and increasingly common problem for property managers. Highfield’s Multi-Maxx offers one of the industry’s best solutions for addressing this growing problem and ensuring a safe environment for tenants.

Benefits/Advantages◆ Easy to install. The patented design features

an articulating arm that allows mounting on the side or bottom of meter enclosures.

◆ Flexible design. It is available in three sizes. An inner rod telescopes to accommodate from two to six meters, in both horizontal and vertical configurations.

InstallationPunch 13/32" (406) diameter hole 11/8" from front wall of meter socket or enclosure, using the proper portable Highfield punching tool. Insert bolt through the back-up bar and the punched hole from the inside of the socket/enclosure. Thread the stud onto the bolt so the cross hole in the stud and the ends of the back-up bar are facing toward the cover of the box. Close the cover of the box. Slide the lock housing over the stud and fully insert the barrel lock. Apply seal if desired.

Universal Utility Padlock

DescriptionThe Highfield Universal Padlock has been designed specifically for use on Electric, Gas and Water distribution systems. Among the multitude of applications, the padlocks can be used to secure wing type valves, electric meter installations, electrical switchgear installations, CT cabinets, and other assorted enclosures or equipment with a latch or provision for a padlock. The universal padlock is secured in place with any standard length Utility barrel lock, thus eliminating additional keys to be carried by field personnel. Specially keyed barrel locks are available upon request from Highfield in either #6, Beta, REVPRO®, or standard barrel lock. Consult your local sales representative or the factory for additional information regarding special keying.
