2 AAAE/ACI-NA Airport Noise Conference
Welcome Colleagues, Innovators, Builders, Scientists, Engineers, Aviation and Airport Professionals and GuestsOn behalf of the staff and board members at the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, we welcome you to San Diego. We are very proud to host the First Annual AAAE/ACI Airport Noise Conference.
For the past 88 years, San Diego’s airport has stood shoulder-to-shoulder with an active military base. San Diego Bay is just to the south. Planes take off and land over two of San Diego’s oldest and most established residential neighborhoods. Since 1928, San Diego International Airport has operated in the very heart of America’s Finest City. So when it comes to noise, our neighbors have never been shy about letting us know when we make too much of it.
Look, we understand. Sometimes airports can be, well, loud. They produce emissions and create traffic. But rather than simply exist as a thorn in the sides of our neighbors, we’re proud of the relationships we’ve built. Because showing respect for our neighbors and listening – really listening – to their concerns are the keys to everything. If you learn nothing else during this conference, we hope you gain an appreciation for the power of collaboration and the importance of being part of the broader community

Randy Jones Award Luncheon Don’t miss this special award!
The late Randolph Jones, FAIA AICP was known in the airport noise mitigation industry as a leader and innovator.
Those that had the opportunity to interact with Randy knew him as a gentleman and gifted profes-sional who helped shape the noise mitigation indus-try that exists today.
The Randy Jones Award for Excellence in Airport Noise Mitigation annually recognizes an individual, organization or program that has made a significant contribution to the industry.
In 2016, with the expansion of the conference and partnership between AAAE and ACI-NA, the Randy Jones Award has also been expanded to include recognition of broader noise abatement and manage-ment criteria.
We are honored to present this year’s award to an individual who has been at the forefront of noise issues for nearly four decades. Be sure to attend the luncheon to be a part of this wonderful tradition.
