1/3 PCR-300/-500/-800 System Program Ver.1.05 30 April 2010 * This system program updates your PCR-300/-500/-800 to the latest version 1.05. * This program is only for PCR-300/-500/-800. * This program is not necessary if your PCR-300/-500/-800 is running on Ver.1.05 or later. Before you start, check the system program version of your PCR-300/-500/-800. Improvements [-> Ver.1.05] The following have been fixed. * At entering value by the rotary encoder, the operation might cause strange value move like going reverse or skipping values. [-> Ver.1.04] * We have corrected the problem that had caused "INC" or "DEC" data to be transmitted if a knob was even slightly away from the center position when switching control maps in encoder simulation mode. Items required for the update You'll need the following items in order to update the PCR-300/500/800 system program. * The PCR keyboard * A computer that meets the operating requirements of the PCR * You must install the PCR driver in your computer beforehand. * USB cable Caution when performing the update (Important) * When you update the system program, the control map data will also revert to the factory-set condition. If you want to keep your control maps, you must save them on your computer, as described in "Saving control map data on your computer (Bulk Transmit)" in the Owner's Manual. * If you perform the update using this system program according to the directions given here, you should not experience any problems. Even if the update fails, you'll be able to perform the update procedure again. In the unlikely event that the system fails to start up even though the update was successful, please contact your dealer or a Roland service center.

* Please be aware that we cannot answer questions regarding the system program update procedure.

Perform the update at your own responsibility, following the instructions provided here.

Download procedure After extracting the compressed file, please follow the instruction "Update procedure" below.

Update procedure 1. Peel off the barcode label on the back of the PCR keyboard, and you will find a switch. Move the

switch to the position shown in figure 1.

* Don't touch the switch marked "x." If you move the switch

marked "x" it will be impossible to power on the PCR. In this

case, move the switch marked "x" back to its original position,

and you will again be able to turn the power on.

2. Use a USB cable to connect the PCR to your PC, and set the PCR's power switch to the USB

position.

3. When the PCR's display indicates 103, press the [ENTER] button.

4. When the PCR's display indicates "ERAS," press the [DYNAMIC MAPPING] button.

5. When the PCR's display indicates "SURE," press the [C3] button.

6. On your computer, start up UpdSMF.

7. For "MIDI Out Device," choose [1:EDIROL PCR].

8. For "SMF Path," specify the name of the folder that contains the p00001.mid file. You can also click

"Path" and search for it. For Macintosh users this will be "Select."

9. Click "ScanSMF." This step is not necessary for Macintosh users.

10. Click "Send" to play back the p00001.mid file.

11. When the PCR's display indicates "END," close UpdSMF and turn the PCR's power switch OFF.

12. Return the switch you moved in step 1 to the position shown in figure 2.

* Don't touch the switch marked "x."

13. Turn on the power, and execute the function of Factory Reset. Please refer to the next.

Factory Reset 1. Press the [EDIT] button so it's lit. The display will indicate "EDIT"

2. Use the VALUE knob to select "SYS" and press the [ENTER] button.

3. Use the VALUE knob to select "SY16" and press the [ENTER] button.

4. "RST" will be blinking in the display; press the [ENTER] button.

5. "YES" will be blinking in the display; press the [ENTER] button.
