We would like to take this opportunity to welcome our
newest Producer Members to the PCI Central Region.
PCI Central Region Producer Members work together to improve the quality, economy and innovation of the construction industry by establishing new levels of design and engineering in precast applications.
You have seen our work in structural and architectural applications in transportation, commercial, industrial, housing and specialized structures. For more information on these and all of our 14 producer members and 20 PCI certifi ed facilities, please visit our web site at www.pcicentral.org.

Growing enrollment and a shortage of space created the need for a new,
21st century residential facility on the campus of the University of Dayton.
This 100,000 square foot structural shell, constructed with load bearing masonry walls and precast / prestressed concrete hollowcore slabs, was completely constructed within a 10-week time frame in the fall of 2003. Due to the superior speed of this type of construction the building was enclosed prior to the cold winter conditions setting in thus allowing other trades to commence their work in a weather controlled environment, saving time and cost to the overall project.

Precast concrete provides a number of functional and aesthetic needs for
exterior and interior wall systems. With thelocation of Homewood Suites beside railroad tracks, the owners wanted to provide a quiet environment for their guests. Hoosier Prestress constructed the hotel with precast concrete which has an outstanding sound insulation value.

An Aesthetic Solution to Noise ControlWith Precast Noise Barriers Stow, Ohio
Owensboro Body ShopOwensboro, Kentucky
When a February 2003 snow caused ice and snow build-up
on the original Owensboro Body Shop to collapse, quick erection was needed to get back to business. Built in 1955, the original shop was constructed of concrete block with a wood frame roof.
This time around, deAm-Ron Building Systems used 8” thick insulated load-bearing walls with stucco form liner fi nish to construct the new building in only 8 days. The building has a clear inside span of 86’-0” which will clear inside span of 86’-0” which will accommodate work on 30 cars at a time. In addition to a lower offi ce/parts area, a hollowcore mezzanine level offersadditional offi ce space and training room.

CSX Ramp ReplacementCharleston, West Virgnia
Preservation of a historic bridge was foremost in the minds of
the designer’s on the CSX Ramp Replacement in Charleston West Virginia. The owner and architect/engineer wanted the look to resemble that of the original bridge being replaced.
Eastern Vault Company fabricated the spread box beam members to accommodate cantilevered sidewalks and handrails. Stainless steel beveled sole and embedded bearing plates were utilized to meet site grade requirements and eliminate sloped piers and backwalls.
Choosing precast bridge beams for this project allowed for faster construction, long, clear spans, low maintenance, and an attractive appearance.
Technical Note: The longest span on this 7-span box beam design was 55’ 3” and the shortest span being 49’.

From November 2003 till present, StresCore supplied and installed 162,000 square feet of 8” Hollowcore panels and precast stair systems for the fl oor
and roofs on four new multi-level students residence Halls. Hollowcore was chosen for its durability, speed of construction, fi re resistance and fi nished ceiling appearance.
The StresCore “Hollowcore” system utilizes the compressive strength of concrete with the high tensile strength of steel strand. Slabs are produced at the factory under rigid quality control conditions, then shipped to the job site for shipped to the job site for incorporation into the structure for a proven effi cient and fast method of construction.
