INTRODUCTION:- Instrumentation Ltd is a Public Sector unit . it is Undertaking Ministry of Heavy Industries.

It is set up in kota April,1964.

it is based on C-DOT (Centre for Development of Telematics) Tech.

It has a Plant HQ at Kota with another plant at Palakkad, Kerala.

International office in Malaysia, Iran.

» Instrumentation Limited 's Electronic assemblies plant at Kota assemble & test the PCBs. » It is spread over 20,000 square feet.

» PTH and SMT Techniques are used for assembling.

» The unit has fully automatic programmable Pick & Place machine.

WHAT IS PCB? Type 1 – Single Sided PCB

Type 2 – Double sided PCB

Type 3 – Multilayered PCB

PCB, is used to mechanically support and electrically connect electronic components using conductive tracks.

» It is like a microwave oven.

» Used for testing the PCB for any type of defects(bending,breaking ,removal of copper tracks ) by heating.

»Heating of the PCB done at 200-300 C.

(1)Platted Through Hole Technique(PTH)

(2) Surface Mount Technique(SMT)

TWO TECHNIQUES


PLATTED THROUGH HOLE TECHNIQUE ( PTH):

» In PTH technique components are Mounted on PCB by DRILLED hole.

» For mounting the components wave-soldering machine is used for soldering through hole components .

In Surface mount technology (SMT) the components are mounted directly onto the surface of Printed circuit board(PCB).

High-speed designs may require SMT technology.

In this technique large no. of small components are mounted.
